3.6.24. I keep pressing 'later' when it asks if I want to d/l the latest version (8 something). Which is a whole different rant as to how they decided that version numbers don't matter any more. Thus the jump from 3.6.xx to 8 over the course of this year. Why not just call it firefox infinity?

Re: What version of Firefox is everyone running?

7.0.1 on main box (need to downgrade (or upgrade?) back to 3.6) and 3.6 and 2.0 everywhere else.
Also Opera 10.63 with the classic skin and all the useless garbage removed and SRWare Iron (google chrome/chromium clone)

I only use IE(9) for quick ftp stuff (out of the address bar in a local folder)

Firefox is a bitch with RAM consumption for powerusers. Currently sitting just over 2GB. And it's in its "i'm-about-to-take-a-shit" state when it freezes for about a second every couple seconds. will only get worse over time till you're greeted with the crash reporter that stopped working 3+ versions ago.
And no.. killing the plugin-container.exe doesn't do anything about the mini-freezes.

Opera at least "warns" you if it's about to run out of RAM by not loading any images.. if that happens you've got about 1 to 3 minutes to close some shit or it'll crash on its own.

Iron/chromium is fast. really fast. but too minimalistic, lacking plugins and it's also fast to crash out of the blue without any warning signs when you're (ab)using it as a powersurfer. And then you get to the equally lacking session restore, which seems to change its mood with every crash

Sometimes it restores everything, sometimes it doesn't appear at all (session gone completely) sometimes it crashes while restoring, and when you start it back up, it'll act as if it was a clean new session and everything's lost again.

Other than those, there are no real alternatives left (i'm ignoring Safari for windows on purpose. That's not an alternative, but an abomination)
Most other "browsers" are just stupid new UIs that run on top of IE or FFX or something.

The only real "homemade" browser i know of is "OffByOne".. but that's about on the development level of IE3 :|

Firefox 8. Only problem with rapid releases seems to be it puts more strain on the plugin developers testing compatibility.

Re: What version of Firefox is everyone running?

Right now, 3.6.24 on the main computer at home (99% 64-bit linux, don't know the FF in XP Pro 64-bit). 3.6.x (I think) at work (software upgrades disabled, very large network).

I'd like to settle down on a browser here at home, but I'm having lots of OS reinstalls lately (only 2 computers!). Lots of UI changes as FF switches versions too quickly, cookies lasting from 30 to 200 years (delete just one and you can't log in to your bank's website anymore) and slow X-marks synchronization make me a cranky person lately.

(I don't want to be paranoid, but does CookieCuller work in modern FF? Back in FF2 I think you could confirm/deny every cookie without Cookie Culler (it was basic FF). Lots of clicks slowed down browsing though.)

Occasionally I'll just use Opera and have simplicity.

I thought I heard somewhere that modern FF (ver. 4+) eliminates the need for Flash -- is this true?

I don't think FF incorporates a flash player -- Adobe would sue. I suspect web pages will have to be re-coded for the new HTML standard that gives "flash-like" ability. So until that is done, we struggle to get 64-bit linux flash, to work. For other OS/browser installs, it's still one more step before the machine is usable.

              Great. Just great. </end sarcasm>

                Do you mean HTML5 stuff?

                http://www.youtube.com/html5

otherwise, no. you still need to install and update flash. and it still sucks.

At least it doesn't use Silverlight. It requires a processor supporting SSE and runs like shit on my Core i3 laptop.

How can i update the Micom Version? The Samsung bios update wont work.

                    Firefox is now SATANIC
                    by Hondaman
Now that I have your attention:

In the last few days, it looks like Firefox has changed their software terms so they are now evil and WILL sell your data.

I already use Palemoon for Win7 sometimes. Looks like I'll be switching to librewolf as well, as Youtuber Louis Rossman suggests. Palemoon still supports Win7, but sometimes pages don't work properly. The Google Chrome browser might also still work for Win7.

I will have no choice but to upgrade my Firefox, so that I can copy dozens of tabs into a document or spreadsheet, or go through the history to...
