My friend handed me his computer today for fixing. The problem was that it would turn on, but no beeps or display whatsoever. The computer worked fine in his shop throughout the last two years or so. Then when he transported it home for the kids to use and tried to boot it up, it didn't display anything on the screen. I've stripped the board out of the case and bench boarded it with only a CPU (S775, Pentium 4 640, 3.2GHz) and a stick of RAM (Veritech 512MB DDR400)... Still no-go.
Even with my own RAM and AGP graphics card, it still doesn't want to boot. I am currently using a 300W Delta electronics PSU to power the parts on my work bench, but still no-go.
The PSU in the computer's case is a Deer branded unit. ewwww. I don't know if it fried the board or not, but I doubt it cause the south-bridge isn't burning hot as with many other boards killed with crappy PSUs.
What's wrong here guys?
