I don't have much experience... what should I be looking for? I posted my results in my last post but this method of testing is new to me

The USB-C dock and monitor are separate devices used for testing because I initially thought the display was defective due to a crack on the lower right corner.
WD15 docking station: is capable of outputting 19.5V/3.34A
Dell P2419HC: has built-in power delivery, capable of outputting 20V/3.25A
Both devices work on all other Macs and laptops.

MacBook Pro 2019 A2159 (2-port) wont boot
Trackpad clicks.
Plugging in a genuine USB-C charger and any other charger = 20V and charges all the way.
Plugging in a Dell USB-C dock or monitor causes the voltage to cycle endlessly between 5V and 19V
The Caps Lock button doesn't illuminate.
Holding the power button (fingerprint scanner) for 10 seconds stops the trackpad clicking temporarily, but it starts clicking again after 3 seconds.
If I open the lid slightly, the trackpad stops clicking (it seems to be detecting the lid opening/closing).
The keyboard backlight...

I don't know if this helps... the daughter audio board does seem to have the DAC on it, if this is true then the part number for the entire board is WD50F and is used in XPS 15 7590, XPS 15 9570, and Precision 5530...

Anything audio USB-related usually has its own DAC and functions as an additional sound card... (This may not apply to USB C Hubs)
HDMI audio is a part of the video card which operates its own sound card.
If you have audio from your internal speakers the internal DAC is fine, you may have issues closer to the 3.5 jack
Have you double-checked if you have the correct drivers installed, if you have a 3.5 TRRRS jack, software is usually used to prompt the user requesting information as to what was plugged in from there its adjusted accordingly, do not use Windows update...

I too have this issue however shortly after the board quit completely, I found a board on eBay for a reasonable price that had a damaged inductor 1.5uh 16a Inductor I moved the inductor from my dead board 20v worked to the Windows login screen then started cycling rapidly 20 -> 5v -> 20v to which I responded by un-plugging the charger.
I thought maybe it was the USB C connector board... I ordered one. Same issue then shortly after it's permanently stuck on 5v.
What I find odd is that it will still attempt to charge at 5v powered on and will charge all the way if left powered...

I'm not sure if you're trolling.

First of I'm not blaming any nationality. This is about the poor design
I did not build these devices, they're manufactured like this.
If something is designed to use 10A and uses 10A rated components you're at 100% at normal use with 0% tolerance.
The entire concept of a fuse is to cut power should it exceed what is rated.

Therefore if the device's components are rated at x then the fuse should cut at x and for safety there should also be tolerance.
In the US the maximum is 80% of what the outlet is rated eg max load on a 15A outlet is...

Xbox series X HDMI
Can anyone recommend a reliable Amazon source for the Xbox series X HDMI port?
My recent order came with plastic legs
Also if it's on Mouser I'm ok with that too

Are USB C connectors standard
I have a number of laptops with damaged USB-C connectors.
I wonder if I can buy a few replacement connectors from Mouser to keep, as it seems like the wafer in the middle breaks easily and oftentimes causes shorts.
I do know there are multiple connectors out there, but I'm curious to know which are most commonly used and how can I identify and purchase the correct ones.
I purchased USB mini-B connectors in the past, only to find out that the connector was flipped (Lenovo smh).

Re: Ps4 saa-001 broken connector
Thanks for the reply, I'll keep it in mind if I have to do this kind of repair again.
My ghetto fix actually worked

Re: Ps4 saa-001 broken connector
I trust my skills however this came to me with the connector broken and glue was placed on to attempt to fix it (a kid tried to clean it) exposing the copper and soldering to it is a gamble IMO but I'll do it anyway

I used the HP Bios unlock tool and then wrote back the bios but now the caps lock light blinks...Last edited by Eniaro; 06-15-2023, 11:15 AM.
