    Okay, now we have a problem. My friend (who is also my resident car mechanic) has now come in with a complaint. The system works fine and does everything he needs to do, but he says he has to boot it twice every time. For example, the first push of the power button will power up the system, but the screen stays blank with no beeps at all though all the fans are spinning etc. He then has to turn it off and then boot it again and then it will come up with the display and give the single beep. This is playing my brain inwards... what's wrong here...? It does it every time... not once in a while either. O.o

        Could it be the psu or motherboard?

            Could be both. I've seen a board that would need to be reset on powerup when overclocked past a certain setting. Did he try updating the BIOS?

                Agreed, board or PSU are likely the cause.

                    I agree as well, it could be both. Try a known good power supply first, though. That Thermaltake Litepower 430w doesn't sound that great.

                        Lenovo Ideapad 100-14IBY AIVP1-AIVP2 LA-C771P rev 1.0
                        it's working only on the bench power supply when I put the battery it doesn't power on. when I also use the original charger it doesn't power. the batter Is fully charged, I used another laptop to charge the battery. but when I use a bench power supply it works perfectly

                        Friend messed up my laptop motherboard while working on my bench

                        Hi All,

                        So my friend was visiting and he wanted to use my solder bench to solder on some WLED circuit board. My laptop was open on the side for RAM upgrade. I know my mistake.

                        So while soldering he had too much solder on the soldering iron tip and he just shook off the soldering iron on the table itself to remove extra solder on the soldering tip and it landed on the motherboard of laptop. He then out of fear tried to remove it using solder wick and did more damage by removing some components as well. So here I am with weird situation.

                        I have not tried putting...

                        Hi all.
                        Looking for some help regarding the workings of this unit.

                        Some time ago I picked up a digital bench power supply from the local flea market here in Rio. It's a 'Sincler SPS 3015/D' which I imagine is 30V, 1.5A 'Digital'.
                        Even though it would turn on and show a display, it wasn't working, and no matter how hard I have looked, I've found no reference let alone any kind of schematic. I imagine it is from the late 70's or early 80's? I can only assume that all the components are to the original specs although it had clearly had prior work done so it 'is' possible...

                        hey there

                        I picked up a faulty bench PSU that was being discarded as was faulty. So the internal SMPS has some faults, bad thermistor, Schottky rectifier and Mosfets all blown and I have replacement parts on way. fingers crossed 😀

                        I am looking for a set of diagrams for the power supply. has EST v1.15 along with 2022 date. Not sure if the EST refers to Edwards or some other manufacturer.
