I got an old AM2 board with 3300uf 6.3v badcaps(all). So I want to change them with poly ones. Can you give me advice which capacity should I use ? I saw on one russian forum(rom.by) that capacity of poly should be around third of current leaky caps, but I'm not sure.

can you find or take a high res pcb foto?
As a rule when polymodding, half the capacitance of the lytic to be replaced is a good standard to go by, been doing it for ages. I have never had a problem with it in well over 10 years. As a matter of fact, this post was created from a dual Socket-A that had all it's 3300uF caps replaced with 1800uF 6.3v Nichicon LG polymers. Its 100% solid.<--- Badcaps.net Founder

Re: 3300uf 6.3V Poly recpaing
little bit sad info but still, I'm thinking about using 3300uf 6.3v EPCOS B41851 caps instead of poly caps, as EPCOS are currently available in my local store... Poly are will arrive to me only in august. Also little off-topic, what is your opinion on EPCOS B41851 caps ? will be they good use here ?

If those are your only choices, the CapXon LZ is equivalent to the original caps, but considering CapXon's past reliability, I wouldn't expect them to last longer than a few years.

Edit: Well, maybe not 20 given the height of the Pentium 3 era capacitor plague, maybe 15 years.Last edited by Heihachi_73; 07-12-2021, 08:11 PM.
