Thanks, but I'm sorry that that doesn't help me. Which photo? What resistor? Which caps and how can you tell that any are dislodged from this side of the board? I can't see, even with a magnifying glass, what you're referring to?

Thanks very much. But hallelujah, I plugged it in a while ago and the screen lit up and has stayed lit.

Screen is still lit. Looking good. Any theories as to why it started to work? I haven't done anything to cause that except not touch it for a couple of days.

I have another question, though. Attached picture shows what looks like more glue on what looks like a button battery, but I don't think it is. Is that a battery or is it something else?

it's a lithium-thionyl chloride rechargeable battery, used to hold the settings etc when the power is off.
used to see them a lot in cellfones.

Has an internal 128MB memory but unit says no photos. I'll get back to you on this. Thanks.

The unit is supposed to have a demonstration slide show that comes in internal memory. The slide show I think is gone because the unit now shows the message 'no photos'. But I set the time and date, pulled the plug, plugged it back in, and the time and date remained. I inserted a memory card and it displays photos properly. I can also copy photos from the memory card to internal memory and play them there.

I put everything back together and it looks like everything is working fine. Removing the glue did the trick. Thanks to all of you for your help. This forum is great.

Samsung UN60EH6000F Black Screen, Backlight and Sound Good. Power Cycle Returns Picture
                      by Mgiffune
I have a 60 inch Samsung UN60EH6000F flatscreen TV. The screen went black a few months ago Sound is good, backlight is good, no menu. I replaced the TCon board with a used board purchased from Ebay. It worked fine for a 3-4 months, then the screen started ‘fading' back. Once again, sound is good, backlight is good, no menu. However, this time the picture looks fine for about 10-15 minutes, then fades back. If I power cycle the TV, the display reappears, for another 10-15 minutes, then fades black again. Repeatable ever time.

I ordered a supposedly ‘new' Tcon board this time, and

                      Problem

This is an LG edge LED lit LCD Display. The LEDs are on the bottom edge of the display. There are 2 bars (left and right) Each bar has many LEDs and a 6 pin connector. Each pin drive several LEDs thus is the highest current flow / heat junction. The weak lead free solder gradually fails with thermal expansion/contraction cycling and increases resistance. PSU will compensate up to a point, then when the current is too high, PSU just shut down the backlight causing a dark display. I have even seen one which the connector just fell off as solder points became completely detached....

Hopefully someone can help me out. This tv was working perfectly until a few weeks ago. At some point, the TV just faded to black, but sound continued playing. It almost looked like smoke on the screen as it faded from the bottom left corner toward the top right. Took only a second or less, but wasn't instant. After restarting, it turned back on and worked fine for another day or two. Then it happened again more or less the same way, but in a slightly different direction, again with sound continuing. I thought it was working fine after another restart, but looked a bit dimmer than before. Then...

Trash picked this tv from a local business, had a garbage image and would fade to black within second then cut off. It would get shorter and shorter every time.

Narrowed it down to the right side of the panel by unplugging half the t con
One side had a great picture the other was black and distorted still.

Down to the buffer boards… found yet another set of two esd diode arrays. One leg had a 60 ohm short to ground and would get lower the more attempts made to turn the tv on.

Soldering iron and some chip quick knocked both of them off and...

T-con suspect issue. Both ribbon cables no picture. One ribbon cable ok. (58pus8545)
                      by Tr0ll
Hi guys! I realized you have a lot of knowledge here so i am hoping you could point me in right direction with my odd issue.

The Tv is a Philips 58PUS8545/12, it had no picture but working backlights.

                      Original T-con:
Opened the Tv and tested to unplug one ribbon cable at a time. With this test i could see that i got fine picture on both halves as long as there was only one ribbon cable connected, with two connected picture were gone.

                      First replacement T-con:

I thought it might be t-con and ordered new t-con from china(supposedly tested)...
