recap or no recap with a junkie cap

Want to recap a 100uF 25v, hard to find good caps in my country, bought a TEAPO SEK in a local store, inmediately seach inf. on the internet, found out that its a low profile cap, general purpose... only 1000 hours life

The question is to recap or not to recap with this junkie cap on my DFI ultraD

the board came like this way, it works even with the crushed cap, should i leave the crushed cap and continue using the motherboard like nothing happened?

Re: recap or no recap with a junkie cap

If it was me, I would replace it

The cap is very damaged top of can is open...replace if you have know how to recap, if not read the tuts and practice on junk pcb's
      ...
ok hard question...is replace with junkie teapo...only as stop gap....
GP would probably have a higher esr how critical this is to the circuit I don't know but if its working ok with the stuffed one...
suppose it would be ok as a temp solution till you can source good quality low esr types.
(maybe a GP will be ok in that area...but not a teapo, well i wouldn't use one as a long term fix)

The others appear to be nichicon but I can really tell what type....appears there maybe a panasonic there too.
(there are a few on this forum that could tell you at a glance exactly what they are)

      mostly good quality caps...
(there has been a dud series or two with nichicon but don't think thats one of them on that pcb)

From what i can tell, it doesn't appear to be in an overly critical area, not sure what that semiconductor is near it thought...type number tell me nothing

just my opinion thought, others will have there own and probably better advice

i would definitely replace it. its only one cap anyway.

you might get away with using a standard cap in that location but they have used nichicon HM which is a pretty low esr cap.

maybe someone on the forum can send you one?

Re: recap or no recap with a junkie cap

Thanks a lot for ur replies guys!!! Paypal does not support my country

I decide not to recap with that TEAPO( thanks Will and starfury ), really don't want to risk my new board, this board is too high quality demanded. What i'm going to do is wait 1~2 months for a friend of mine in US to send me a good replacement. He lives in Virginia but he is visiting his family here for christmas. Actually he told me that us mail international cost only $5~10.

I will never forget ur help guys

Here are the pics of teapo and nichicon (may be fake)

Hm, at this point i see no reson for low esr caps. I have not seen mutch DFI boards, but this cap seems to be used as GP cap. There is no coil or something other, hich needs low esr. But there is an mosfet, wich may be generate heat. For this reason, i would not use an 1000h low quality cap. But if you just can obtain some well branded GP cap, i would not hesitate.

                  ASUS P5GC-MX motherboard recap
                  by momaka
Here’s another motherboard that needed a full recap: an ASUS P5GC-MX.
This one was gifted to me some years ago by user Pentium 4, along with a few other goodies. It actually came in working order with no bulging or leaking caps. However, I noted there were United Chemicon KZG caps everywhere on the motherboard. The CPU VRM output (CPU V_core) was the only exception: it had only 2x KZG. The rest was 6x UCC TMV 4V 680 uF caps… which aren’t any good news either.

So here is what the motherboard looked like with its original caps:

no-name Radeon 9600 XT recap and cooler

I've been seeing a lot of cheap-looking (but not always so cheap) no-name AGP video cards on eBay for a while. They started popping up quite a bit when the market for AGP cards became more alive all of a sudden due to interest in “retro” PCs. One thing that struck me about these cheapo cards is that they almost always seem to come with garbage caps - including the abominable Sacon FZ. That aside, though, I've been wondering about the rest of the quality (or lack of?) on these cards. So I decided to satisfy my curiosity yet again.

This one was actually suggested to me by ChaosLegionnaire....

                  Hi all

Hope this is in the correct place.

I'm planning on recapping both motherboards. I actually already ordered recplament caps for them, where I will be changing out most for poly's.
Could use some double checking to see if I'm not doing something stupid .

Pictures of the boards are attached.

Got 4 LG L222WS 22" for free - psu recap
                  by goodpsusearch
Got 4 CCFL 16/10 monitors for free.

The resolution is almost Full HD (1680x1050)

VGA Input only is a bummer though.

Uses cheap TN panel with terrible viewing angles.

Even though this is not 17" 5:4 screen, still has very low resell value here. Can be found for 15-20 euros.

All the 4 monitors were not working and needed psu recap. Used mix of mediocre / junk caps to recap them, then donated 3 of them to friends/relatives and kept 1 for myself. Also like to install extra caps on empty spaces to help them last longer.

BFG Tech. GeForce FX5200 [ASLM52256] – full recap info and cooler mod
                  by momaka
The more time passes, the more nostalgic I get with old hardware. Video cards and motherboards tend to be my weak spot. As such, I often scavenge eBay for old PC hardware, especially anything with bad caps or in need of similar minor repair.

For today's consideration, I have a popular low-end card from back in the early 2000's: an nVidia GeForce FX5200. This one is the BFG Tech. Asylum take on the card, with 256 MB of DDR RAM running at 400 MHz and 128-bit bus (vs. 64-128 MB and 64-bit bus on many of the cheaper versions.)

                  I think it's easy...
