    PSU: Antec Neo 480W Issue

    Hey Guys / Girls,

I have a big issue with my power supply.

About a 2 years ago my power supply was getting very hot so i desided to open it up and change the Fan inside to use the 12v which made it spin faster. Which was heeps good..... Untill it slowly started to die.

when i turn off my computer (Shut down not restart) then try and restart it nothing would happen i thought it was a power issue untill about 2 mins of playing around it turned back on...i thought this was a loss cable till the next time it happened this time i just waited 2 mins and pressed the power again and turned back on.

This issue got worst and worst after a while, i was waiting like 30 mins for the damn thing to be able to turn back on. Seeing that i opened it up and stuffed my waranty i couldn't really take it back, and i thought it might have been a issue when i opened it up.

I desided to buy another Power Suppy because i got really pissed off with it. I brought the same make an Antec Neo 480W as i really liked the look and the connections it has.

About a month ago this issue started up again with the new PSU.... i'm having the same issue i turn off my computer and i have to wait like 10 mins before i can even turn it back on.

does anyone know what is going on or even be able to help me (i still have the old Antec Neo as well)

As long as the computer stays on it is not a issue it and the PSU works really good.

Post a picture of the innards of the PSU if possible. This is probably an issue with the caps on the +5Vsb or internal controller Vcc rail.

Antec uses Fuhjyyu capacitors, they are crap and have most likley failed

Look for replacement capacitors, one of the 5 major Japanese brands... It must be LOW ESR and rated for 105°C, and as long life as possible, 5000 hours at 105°C is good...

what does it say on the blue caps. they look like fuhjyuu brand as said above. they might be bulging a little. difficult to say for sure.

what motherboard do you have and what caps are on it, how do they look?

This is a Channel-Well OEM unit, and they love Fuhjyyus for some reason. If you can, replace all the Fuhjyyus for a start. You may have difficulty finding 10mm caps that can fit in the same space as the Fuhjyyus and provide the same capacitance.

I don't see any bulging on any of the pics, but get rid of _all_ those fuhjyyus (at least the ones that are 220uf and above) anyway. Just because they look fine doesn't mean they haven't failed: My 250W Hipro that was running hot enough to fry eggs had G-Luxons and Teapos that looked fine but were definitely quite bad.

Re: PSU: Antec Neo 480W Issue

I had a Suntek PSU that was full of Fuhjyyu caps. One of the caps on the output side bulged, and the PC immedately failed - just kept on rebooting and never getting past the POST. I decided to buy a new PSU rather than attempt a full recap, since I assume the non-bulged Fuhjyyus were already failed and out of tolerance.

Sadly, I often see Fuhjyyus in many PSUs these days - there are some in an FSP PSU I have (FSP is usually a good make).

Concur. The 400V I/P cap looks to be a Rubycon, and is indicative of active PFC.

Hey, guys, no disrespect, but all the caps was already properly identified by me there:
                          https://www.badcaps.net/forum/showthread.php?t=2022

So no point of repeating what we all know:

                          1x Rubycon 330uF 400V 85°C x25 x 45
                          4x Fuhjyyu 3300uF 10V TMR 105°C r10 x 30
                          2x Fuhjyyu 2200uF 16V TMR 105°C r10 x 30
                          2x Fuhjyyu 1000uF r8 x 17
                          C4 - 1uF 50V r4 x 8
                          C12 - 10uF 50V r5 x 8
                          C56 - 10uF 16V r5 x 8
                          C23 - 220uF 16V r6.5 x 11
                          C22 - 470uF 25V r8 x 16
                          C58 - OST RLG cap 22uF 50V r5 x 11
                          C17 - 22uF 16V r5 x 11
                          C - unknown, but very close to the C58 - 47uF 25V r5 x 11
(all caps is Fuhjyyu, except the two mentioned - one Ruby, one OST)

As for the caps, Samxons GD 2200uF 16V and 3300uF 6.3V (for the 10V ones, they are onl 5 and 3.3V raild = 6.3V is enought) ones are both D10, so not a problem. I will recap the PSU myself soon. VERY soon

Overboardkiller - could you please check the R117 resistor? We believe the stips should be brown (1) white (9) and then red (2) and gold (5%) - but a confirmation is need, please! Mine is burned out beyond recognition
                          19 + 2 zeroes whould make 1900 oihms in 5% tolerance.
So, can you please check? Thanks!

hmm my antec 480 true blue is having a somewhat similar problem.. wouldnt allow my system to boot sometimes.. me thinks my radeon killed the powersupply. ive been using a 500w psu from antec.. with the controller board for the individual rails. seems like its working okay.

Dude, you Radeon is not killed your PSU. Your PSU use bad caps from well-known inferior brand and it can and it will kill your mainboard and/or your radeon if you did not recap it.

But if you recap it, I promise you, you get one HELL GOOD PSU!

                                Hi everyone,

I'm working on a MacBook Air 2020 (A2337, board 820-02016) and running into a strange USB-C issue. I've gone through quite a bit of testing and part replacement, but I'm stuck — hoping someone here can shed some light.

                                🛠 Original Issue
                                The machine initially wouldn't negotiate 20V over USB-C — stuck at 5V.
Diagnosis showed PP1V5_UPC0_LDO_CORE shorted to ground.

I replaced U3100 (UF400) using a donor board (A2179), and the machine powers on fine now.

I have three identical-spec 820-01700 boards (2.6/32/512), and ALL THREE boards came to us with the same fault, from different sources: The boards don't wake from hibernation with the keyboard or lid, they ONLY wake when you press the power button. I understand this is a very minor issue, but the boards must be fixed!

We will of course begin with the obvious (checking lid signals), but I couldn't help but notice these three boards were all 32GB variants. Has anyone noticed an issue relating to these 32GB boards in particular? I of course don't think it's a RAM issue, but it's bizarre...

I have a strange issue with my laptop keyboard and I'm lost trying to detect what's wrong - the KB9028Q-C or the keyboard itself.
It powers on OK and has no other issues except the following:
                                • CAPS LOCK does not work at all
                                • Fn button toggles Flight Mode

                                • (with SHIFT pressed: 't%' and 'y^' respectively)
I initially thought it was a keyboard malfunction (internal short, etc.),

                                by Simone Vergani
                                Hello everyone,

I'm experiencing an issue with my Alienware 15 R2 (Service Tag: DL7NN32). The laptop works perfectly when connected to the AC adapter — it powers on and functions normally. However, the battery does not charge. If I disconnect the DC adapter, the laptop shuts down immediately, as the battery is at 0%. I have replaced the battery with a new compatible one, but the issue persists. I also replaced the AC adapter with a compatible one, but the battery still doesn't charge.

To assist with troubleshooting, I'm attaching two power circuit schematics:
