    Help me

I need to locate 6.3v 470uf caps in a 6.3x8mm max 10mm size. The best I could find so far is on ebay Can anyone point me to a better source.

    Re: Help me

As you're in florida, probably the best store for you would be Digikey: http://www.digikey.com

    Other good stores:

    Mouser : http://www2.mouser.com/Home.aspx
    RS Components: http://www.rs-components.com
    Farnell : http://www.farnell.com/

PS. This site also sells capacitors, you might want to check the main pages first.

Yes I'm in FL. Digikey and Mouser have noting in that size (dimension) I will check the other links you provided. Thanks

Would a surface mount cap work if I can get it soldered in place?

Yes, if it's the same spec as the through-the-hole version.

Probably he means that Digikey does have 470uf 6.3v caps in 6.3x8mm. There are nice UCC and Nichicon polymers.

I thought when replacing a electrolytic with a polymers that the specs would have to be different on the polymer? also this is not for a motherboard so would a polymer even work?

                        No.
The specs should be as close to original as you can get ...
... unless you've traced out the circuit to figure out what it does and done the electronic math the see what you would be changing.

The cap doesn't know what the PCB is, it only knows the circuit it is in.
                        -

                        -
There are places where changing uF is bad.
There are places where changing ESR is bad.
There is no magic Poly-ESR conversion/swap rule that works on every kind of circuit.

There are people that have 'done the math' for various kinds of circuits so many times they will have a good idea what will work just by looking at what the circuit does. That is especially true on motherboards both because lytic-poly modding is more popular there [more people do it] and because motherboards really don't have a wide variety of -kinds- of circuits that caps are used in.
                        -
When it's not a mother board it might not be one of those -kinds- of circuits and fewer people will have done it.
                        That means you should either:
                        - stay with the original specs
                        - trace out the circuit and do the math
                        - or provide details about what the circuit is/does.

All you've given us is uF/Volts/dimensions.
That's not enough information to choose an appropriate cap for an application so no one here can tell you for certain if some replacement cap will work or not.

There might be a letter code for the series of capacitor on them somewhere. Lead spacing can be measured from the bottom of the board, center to center of the pins.

                                Re: Help me

Let me guess. - This is a Diablotek video card?
                                .
Ketuo is a small company that doesn't bother with things like websites or minor details like data sheets.
Really doubtful their caps have decent specs.
[This is when an ESR meter comes in handy.]
I'm guessing those are no better than panny FC. - If that good.
A 6.3x8mm lytic from a crap brand just isn't going to have that low of an ESR.
                                .
A good pic of the whole card would help.
                                .
Do any of the caps look like they have coils in the circuit?
Do any look like they are an integral part of a VR.
                                .
Looks like a basic low-end card.
You could shot-gun this with about any good brand 'entry level' low ESR cap with a pretty good chance of it working out fine.

With those caps on it to start with it's not at the 'performance level' where using polymer is worth the cost or effort.
                                .
Do all the caps have room for an 8mm diameter like the two shown?
                                .

8mm that's probably serious over-kill to replace those particular caps.

Thanks for the info. I will try to get a full shot of the circuit board but I'm at work at the moment.
The item in question is a touch screen thermostat, sorry PC you guessed wrong . Two of the five caps are side by side and in a cramped spot so a 8mm will not even fit but the others have a little wiggle room.. Stay tuned for the pics when I get home in the morning.

Are those KZE original because they are laying on SMD parts and don't look like they should be there.
Also doubt that board has 50v on it anywhere.
I'm thinkin' someone used whatever they had laying around.

Looking at it I think for the caps you asked about I would try the LXZ.

I’m working on re-capping the power board caps on a Klipsch The Fives audio speaker system. I can’t locate a replacement for these original caps that are labeled “Decon SH PET”. I have three of these on the board with the electrolytics. They are supposed to be a film type capacitor, but they look like a radial mount electrolytic. Everything I find they look completely different, usually a square type body. The two values I need are 16V 470uF and 35V 47uF. I’ve got all the other caps in my cart already from Mouser, so if there’s a replacement there, I would prefer to order from...

                                          Hi
I'm trying to locate what i believe to be Radial Electrolytic Capacitors 100v 82uf Non-polar for a Skytec Crossover filter.

I have an inspiron with "power rail failure" LED codes flashing, and have found a blown capacitor and ferrite bead (inductor, I guess...)

I've found the replacement capacitor on mouser, but am unsure how to properly search for the ferrite bead. I have the schematics and boardview, so I have found the original bead part#, but the data sheet doesn't seem to include the information I need for the filters on mouser and digikey.

For inductance, and a few other values it just says "Refer to standard electrical characteristics list"

                                          Here's...

                                          Hi everyone,

I recently acquired this card from a seller who was selling a PowerMac G5 for parts. He mentioned that the video card was probably broken too.

Upon closer inspection, I can tell the reason why it won't work: it's missing a bunch of CAPS! (it's also missing an inductor - 1.0uH).

It's a nice card as it's one of the few AGP cards that will support 2560 x 1600 resolution on a PowerMac G5 using a 30" Cinema Display.

Looking at the card, it appears to be missing the following:

It is not so important rather then discusion... for learning.

I have small box where put bad components in it, shorted diode, caps, burned resistor etc. I was trying to do some yt video about tracing shorts, so, I use one of these bad smd caps from box... it has few ohms, idealy for presentation... I put him on a known good pcb board, on 3.3v rail, parallel with other caps... but, after it cools down, the rail has 85 ohms... when I apply power, it took only 35mA and no voltage drop... so 0.1W...
Any idea, your experiance how to find 85R bad caps technique?...
