by silver60618Hi all, Im working on a board, that my customer brought to another shop, and smeared liquid metal all over the board.
The laptop powers on, then shuts off. I noticed traces of Liquid Metal near the edge of the CPU, but I fear some maybe underneath.
Has anyone ever tried Ultrasonic cleaning, or compressed air to remove or agitate the liquid metal?-

This is an LG edge LED lit LCD Display. The LEDs are on the bottom edge of the display. There are 2 bars (left and right) Each bar has many LEDs and a 6 pin connector. Each pin drive several LEDs thus is the highest current flow / heat junction. The weak lead free solder gradually fails with thermal expansion/contraction cycling and increases resistance. PSU will compensate up to a point, then when the current is too high, PSU just shut down the backlight causing a dark display. I have even seen one which the connector just fell off as solder points became completely detached....-

by dogfish404hi just a few days ago i had a VERY similar thing happening which led me to this forum, ie this post!
it all began with me applying liquid metal to my probook 430 g4 7200u AND buyin a backlit keyboard on ebay.
after few hours everthing went well. plus then i ordered myself a new hdd door, some 16gb ram, etc.. a new FAN, the old was too loud, etc..
so i ended screwing on my laptop few more hours opening and closing.. in this procedere TWO things happened:
some lquid metal escaped and was teared around the bios chip , special not on it but on... -

I have this UX534FT motherboard with some resistors damaged by liquid. Can't find any schematics.
Could you identify the value of selected resistors please?

by HondamanI hope my computer does not randomly reboot while typing this. My main system is the AsRock 970A-G/3.1 motherboard with the AMD 8150 chip. I am experiencing FREQUENT and RANDOM reboots once the system is used for a couple of hours (sometimes it reboots before I even get to the Win7/Linux Mint dual-boot screen). The problem MIGHT be the DRAM controller chip (I recently upgraded to the maximum 64 GB RAM). It also might be the VRM chips. I am using a typical aftermarket CPU cooler, which does NOT blow air DOWN onto the VRM heat sink.
(After previous generation hardware [Gigabyte] didn't...-
