I am new here so be patient. I had a Mitsubishi Diamante wagon that had the caps fail in the computer. There was a place in Texas that attempted to fix it but the caps leaked and the board was junk. No fix. New computer was about $1200. I junked the car as it was not worth it. I was not happy.

Re: Bad caps=junked car
Leaking caps do dirty the circuit board but the residue can usually be cleaned with good scrubbing and powerful (but plastic safe) detergents. Unless the corrosion is really bad - but even then, some careful work with a soldering iron can repair most common damage. Please do not PM me with questions! Questions via PM will not be answered. Post on the forums instead!

Re: Bad caps=junked car
The company that tried to fix it said that the caps had corroded a hole in the board, and they could not repair it.Comment

Re: Bad caps=junked car
I had that problem in my Jeep a few years ago. The company that tried to fix said the same thing. I paid for them to replace the computer, but took the old one home. I opened it up and cleaned and replaced all the caps. I then sent it back to them to test (couldn't just reinstall in Jeep at this point) and it tested fine. I was pissed and call the manager told him what happened and he bought the used board for 750 bux. I didnt' all my money back. But I bet that jerk won't try to rip me off again!Comment

Re: Bad caps=junked car
Still have the car?
I have a stack of 4g63 ECU's, if you tell me what year and engine your car had chances are pretty good that I have an ECU that will work in it.
If you already scrapped it - Too bad, because it could be fixed cheaply.
There's other methods too that cost less money than a "new" dealership ECU but become much more involved - megasquirt EMS is one of them.Comment

by hugocarmoGood morning everyone.
This time I have a Mitsubishi HS-E82.
It was a bargain that I found with original remote included.
The problem reported by the owner is that it was working but no output video.
I took it appart and immediately saw that three 470uf capacitors were leaking on the signal board and one in the Hi-Fi board the same value too. I have located them in the pictures in red marker.
I replaced them, cleaned all the liquid remains and the video output got working again.
I saw too that were three surface mounted capacitors, two near the 470uf and... -

by sam_sam_samI was working on this CNC machine today found no keyboard functioning no control relay powering on
The screen powered on and was giving an operation error but the manual was not very clear about what the error exactly was but with a little bit of troubleshooting and finding out that the control relays not powering on and no keyboard functions we narrowed down to this one switching power supply which of course does not have any indicator LED light they are on the keyboard interface/relay controller board
Found shorted diodes on main controller relays there are 3 of them that... -
The bq24745 bq24745RHDR bq24745RHDT is a high-efficiency, synchronous battery charger with an integrated input-current comparator, offering low component count for space-constrained, multi-chemistry battery-charging applications. The input-current, charge-current, and charge-voltage DACs allow very high regulation accuracies that can be easily programmed by the system power-management microcontroller using the SMBus interface. The bq24745 charges two, three, or four series Li+ cells, and is available in a 28-pin, 5-mm x 5 mm QFN package.
The bq24745 features dynamic power management...-
