be very careful on the hot/primary side of the board high voltage in places, the big filter cap can easily have enough voltage to kill.

I measured the voltage readings from the backside of the board. The pin markings were there.

Can you take a photo of the markings where you took your measurements?
Also i want to know if you have a standby light?

Attached photo of the ports where the voltage readings were obtained and the lit red standby light.

When I press the power on button on the tv, nothing happens. Also, when I try the remote control power button, nothing happens, red standby light stays lit.

Would anyone know which ports to jump to force a turn on? Is that a good next step, or something else. Thank you for your questions and suggestions!

I have attached a photo for you to see. Take a clear photo of the area in red. As far as i can remember there is a low drop out voltage regulator. Something with a marking like "1118". Its a 8 pin surface mount ic.
Pin 2 and 4 must have 5V on it but pin 5 needs to be 3.3V exactly
                Pin 8 is 1.8V
With mine i always find out that the pin 5 (3.3V) is fluctuating around 3.1V and then the tv will not start up.
Please measure there and get back to me.
I have added the datasheet of the IC in question if you are not sure.

Thank you for the suggestion! Photo attached and here is what I measures at each pin for this 1118 component.
                  Pin 1 0v
                  Pin 2 5.15v
                  Pin 3 0v
                  Pin 4 5.16v
                  Pin 5 3.34v
                  Pin 6 3.34v
                  Pin 7 1.82v
                  Pin 8 1.82v

All seems to be good with this test. Keep the suggestions coming, please and thank you!

Ok, then you can switch on the unit and feel if anything is getting hot, like the processor etc. My bet is for now that your firmware is corrupt. To fix that you might need to get the firmware update from Westinghouse. If nothing then to the bin it goes.

If you have a programmer, try to read the dump and put it here, I'll look at the contents, and if the problem is in the firmware, then I'll try to fix it.

As an alternative, could I swap this ONN board currently on eBay with the Westinghouse board. It has the same footprint and connections.

Not sure how I would do this, but interested in learning on how to read the dump.

There may be a different firmware, for a different panel, for a different remote control.

You taught me something new about other various paths that could be taken.

Unfortunately, this is a bit out of my technical league on performing the download/upload.

Surfing the web tonight, I located a replacement board which I did not have any luck in finding over the last couple of weeks. It must have became newly available. I ordered it and will update when it arrives.

A "Midwest Nice" thank you for all of your guidance!

I was given this TV from my great uncle. He said it just wouldn't turn on one day out of nowhere, replaced the TV, and gave it to me to possibly fix and use for myself.

Upon bringing it home and plugging it up, it showed a standby light.

I powered it on and without a flashlight, the display showed the "V" but the lighting is very dim, but visible.

The screen seems to blackout and stay black, but with a flashlight I can see the display.

With my Playstation 4 connected via HDMI, and running a game I can hear sound.

The symptoms are dead set. After looking into the circuits, there are 3 modules. A power supply, main board and a video board. I may or may not be using the right terms. The power supply is obvious. The board that all the LED strips attach to, I'm calling a video board. With the unit plugged into 110 vac and the video and main boards unplugged, I have 3 voltages coming from the power supply. 5vdc, 14vdc, 24vdc
When I plug the two boards into the power supply, all 3 of those power supply voltages drop significantly. I have no schematic on this unit and the boards are not labeled as to where...

I have been working on this concept for quite some time now with limited success but recently I found a switching power supply that is setup for the voltage that this soldering station needs to operate at however it also needs part of the secondary circuit from the original switching power because you need several voltage rails

I once tried to get a ZD-915 desoldering station to work on a 18 volt battery power supply but unfortunately things did not go well but I did find a work around but I might try this idea again but going at a little differently more about this another time...

samsung ln46d630 power supply fuse blown and burn mark

                                        Hi all,

picked up this curb alert TV. Looks like the fuse is blown, i don't have a fuse to replace is with, is it safe to short with something just to test it? There is also a burn mark in the white glue near a transistor so maybe the transistor is gone as well. Attached is a picture with the burn circled as well as the fuse that is blown.

                                        Board is labeled as: BN44-00463A

                                        What's my next best steps?

                                        Thanks....

Definitive technology SC 2000 subwoofer amp's power supply clicking and popping

The sub developed a constant popping every couple seconds from woofer and power LED flickering with nothing but wall AC connected. Connecting an audio cable didn't change anything. It doesn't play but a second or two of audio in between the pops.
Opened it up and discovered the power supply is making a faint clicking or ticking sound.
I measured the amp's output to the woofer and it pulses up to 50mv DC to be driver. The pulses coincide with the power supply ticking/clicking.
I measured the power supply output going to the amp board and it too has this pulsing. Voltage cycles...
