    philips 32pfl5403d/10 error code help

good morning, this philips chassis q522.1e la
no sound or pic .psu starts up with 12v -12v ,5.2v 24v.supplies
    no b/l
then relay clicks off ,then on ,followed by protection mode :
5 slow blinks then 3 fast blinks.according to manual:
"a long blink indicates the decimal digit, a short blink indicates the units"
before protect mode starts there is
no volts on t con fuse.
cant see from cct where the feed volts for t con come from ,possibly main board
this uses ccfl with inverter board .
checked caps in psu with esr meter ,replaced a couple that were borderline
are there any philips specialists that could help please
maybe point me in right direction

Error 53. This error will indicate that the PNX85xx has read
his bootscript (if this would have failed, error 5 would blink)
but initialization was never completed because of hardware
problems (NAND flash, ...) or software initialization
problems. Possible cause could be that there is no valid
software loaded (try to upgrade to the latest main software
      version).

slightly different model number but yes points at a faulty main board
        https://www.elektroda.com/rtvforum/topic872009.html
it maybe worth trying a firmware update or you may have too source a secondhand main board if cost effective

from philips website i downloaded software update its a "autorun22m.upg "file
          extracted and followed instructions ,
          sadly fault persists.
im wondering if the update shown above is not a complete software ? just an update for existing software?
also in the past i have been missled with error codes ,
just wondered if it is f/w related ,would this account for no 12v supply to tcon ?
i have spent time checking all other supplies derived from main board they seem ok
the led responds to remote pressing but wont allow to switch into sby etc

Re: philips 32pfl5403d/10 error code help

If you search for "philips error 53" in this category in the forum, you'll find previous questions about this error-code that probably relate to your situation.

A good thing with these older models that you have, is that they have extensive service manuals, complete with circuit diagrams and fault-finding flowcharts.
From this page you can download the service manual that covers your model:
            https://www.electronica-pt.com/esque...ileinfo/14452/
Chapter 5 has what you need to study.

Assuming that your main processor's BGA-chip hasn't warped itself off some of the pads underneath against the PCB after years of thermal cycling, you might have a worn-out flash chip where the Linux filesystems are stored.
It can be a "computer error" of some kind like that, because the standby controller (an 8-bit microcontroller physically present inside the same BGA-chip as the main processor) fails in attempting to boot the main processor.

I'd find a way to inspect the serial output from both the standby controller and the main MIPS-processor, and your model even has RS232 so you can listen in on the output from a COM-port, if you still have a computer with such a thing.
The serial speeds on the QFU1.2E LA that I managed to get working, were 115200 8N1 on the main processor and 57600 8N1 on the standby controller, maybe it's the same on this one, but really there aren't that many speed alternatives, so just try them one by one.
Use a terminal program with serial support like Putty or Tera Term to set the serial speed and to inspect the output from both processors.
Plug in the serial connection while the TV is unplugged and have the terminal running, then plug in mains power to the TV; you should be getting output pretty much instantly.
Leave it running until the TV starts blinking the error code.
It will be screenfulls probably, but just save the outputs to text-files and search in the collected text for words like "error", "fail", "warning", "corrupt", etc.
On my model the valuable information came from the main processor's TXD, but this is technically a standby-controller error, so you might as well look at that as well while you are at it, maybe it has some useful error message.

Curiously, according to table 5-2 in your service manual, error 53 is an error state and not a protection state on your model, so the TV should not be in protected mode where several power rails have been turned off.
Maybe it's a typo; if you don't have all rails present, then see section 5.2.1 and the corresponding figure 5-1 for instructions on forcing a hardware SDM (temporarily short the two SDM-pads together).
This will leave all power rails on even in protected mode, so they can all be measured.
After all; thou shalt check voltages, and maybe this is caused by a problem on one of the main processor power rails.

Please post the serial output-files into the thread, if you are able to produce them from the TV.

              a BIG thankyou to maalobs
for taking the time to post such detailed information
you have certainly helped to point me in right direction,

i still would like to find where the 12v supply to tcon comes from.
there should be a" panel on" from the micro usually via a couple of fets
which switches on the tcon 12v on the mainboard

Re: philips 32pfl5403d/10 error code help

I think you're following a red herring; the TV set is giving you an error code, why not follow that symptom instead.

Look at Figure 5-4 in the service manual where the "off to semi standby" flowchart begins.
Read through it and into Figure 5-5 (part 2) on the next page, it explains everything that happens up to Code = 53, and everything that happens after that error, which includes shutting down various power rails:

It appears to me at least that power rail states on the TCON board are unrelated to producing an error code 53.
Error code 53 could instead be the reason that expected power rails are not present.

If you do want to measure the power rails before addressing the actual error that the TV set is telling you, then activate the SDM.
There is a warning in section 5.3 regarding SDM however, that FET 7U08 should be measured first to avoid destroying ICs powered by the 3V3 rail, but my interpretation is that this scenario only applies to error code 8:
                Code:
                5.3 Stepwise Start-up
There are two possible situations: one for protections detected
by the stand-by software and one for protections detected by
                the main software.
When the TV is in a protection state due to an error detected by
stand-by software (and thus blinking an error) and SDM is
activated via short-circuiting the pins on the SSB, the TV starts
up until it reaches the situation just before protection. So, this
is a kind of automatic stepwise start-up. In combination with the
start-up diagrams below, you can see which supplies are
present at a certain moment. [B]Important to know is, that if e.g.
the 3V3 detection fails (and thus error 8 is blinking) and the TV
is restarted via SDM, the Stand-by Processor will enable the
3V3, but will not go to protection now. The TV will stay in this
situation until it is reset (Mains/AC Power supply interrupted).
Caution: in case the start up in this mode with a faulty FET
7U08 is done, you can destroy all IC's supplied by the +3V3,
due to overvoltage. It is recommended to measure first the FET
7U08 on short-circuit before activating SDM via the service
                pads.
Maybe I'm right, maybe I'm not.
Either way, the FET is located here on the SSB top side:

Better to be safe than sorry I suppose; check that FET for short circuits before forcing the power rails to the ON state with SDM.

How far are you getting in the boot sequence? must be quite far if you are getting to the error codes.

When you remove the logic board from the tv how are the heatsink pads? are they dry and crispy or wet and oily?

sorry been busy with other repairs ,
i assume you mean the main board?
which has no heatsink pads that are removable
nor does the t con board?

                        by cloo
I recently got my hands on a 60" Panasonic P60ZT60 plasma tv (european model) that has some strange issues along with an 8 blink code.
It know this tv is getting old but it was once considered one of the best plasmas ever made, and i think it is still holds on to that even by todays standards.

So, long story short. When i first got the tv it had a very bright washed out picture with very raised blacks in all picture modes and i couldn't find the cause in the picture setting menus.
After doing a factory reset this problem was gone and the picture was back to...

Philips TV 43pus7505 setting display option code, help please.
                        by eurgenca
                        Hello.
I am dealing with a Philips TV, 43pus7505 and is stuck on boot loop.
So I ordered a used CPU board, and now I have wired picture.
I think the problem lies in display option code. According to SM, the command for setting
display code is 062598 + MENU + 032 (032 is written on a label on back of a TV).
But as soon I press the menu button TV jumps in menu. Can someone please tell me what I am doing wrong,
or can I manually edit option code in SAM.

I aquired this Panasonic 60" plasma around the time my first child was born. It was meant to be a project tv, hoping to fix it chipping away at the repair in my free time. Well that was 2 years ago and i'm really just getting around to making a sincere effort to see if I can ressurect this beast.

The symptoms of the tv ar as follows:
                        • Plug AC in to back of TV
                        • After about 2 seconds the relay on the P-sub board will click on and then a fraction of a second later it clicks back off
                        • The 3 blink code is given by the power LED
                        • If the TV is unplugged and then
                        ...

Hi. This noob needs help with this TV.

Symptoms: TV haven't always turned on but when it has, it has been working normally. The TV was sitting in the storage for about an year and after that time for a few days it worked perfectly and turned on every time. But then it suddenly won't turn on anymore and just shows two blinks with standby light.

I disassembled the back cover and examined the circuit boards. I didn't notice anything obvious with PCBs and components. I measured the voltage rails. In the connector that connects to logic board every voltage is present and...
