Vizio XVT553SV - Up for sale

Hi, in our local community, someone has this TV up for sale.. I am wondering if anyone has had this issue and know what it could be? I realize it's tough based on a picture.

I've worked on similar TV, and it's always been bad main baord - I would send it out for repair and $110 later, it works.

Does this look like a main board??

It's greenish tint and pixelized - as the seller described it.

Maybe if you can get the tv for a reasonable price in case it's something else wrong, there's some tcons on ebay about 25 bucks and up, might be able to replace gamma chip on tcon IF that's the issue, a lot cheaper but requires soldering.

Looks like there are no gamma test points on that board to check the voltages

Hi Folks.. I got the new / used Tcon today. Symptoms are still the same. Seems symptoms go away once the boards heat up. So before I invest in more boards (main boards is fairly expensive), I would like your opinion if this could be a panel issue and I should give up? Video attached. Most repair shops for this model, don't list this as a failure mode of the main board

try selectively preheating (with a hair dyer, gently) one of the boards, then try start it up and see if things work right at the start. Let cool off, and repeat til you locate which board is most impacted... go from there.

Looks fairly uniformly dusty and tape still intact. It doesn't look like repairs have been attempted.

See attached of all numbers, and main board number

Yes, heating up the main processor on the main card does the trick.

would reflow take care of the issue, or does the processor have to be removed / reballed or replaced??

good deal... as you were focused on the tcon when the main board was the "source". Hope you can get it going properly.

Worth a shot, use your hot air gun probably set to low, to melt a little piece of solder, see how long it takes then add about 30 or 40 seconds to that when you do your re-flow.

I believe it was diff that said as long as it took to malfunction, it's a 2010 so it should last 10 years.

I was given this TV from my great uncle. He said it just wouldn't turn on one day out of nowhere, replaced the TV, and gave it to me to possibly fix and use for myself.

Upon bringing it home and plugging it up, it showed a standby light.

I powered it on and without a flashlight, the display showed the "V" but the lighting is very dim, but visible.

The screen seems to blackout and stay black, but with a flashlight I can see the display.

With my Playstation 4 connected via HDMI, and running a game I can hear sound.

picked up another TV. This time is a Vizio M65-C1. TV does not turn on. I had repaired another 60 inch vizio , Bad main board.

No picture, just red vertical stripes. Google search shows quite common problem for these recent Vizio M series although red vertical stripe pattern may differ. Some call it "Netflix" boot screen haha.

Bug looks like hardware so thought I posted it here. Exact same behavior on 2 different model 4K Vizio TVs running their SmartCast smarttv software. After launching youtube app, press vizio button on remote to return to the smarttv menu, once in awhile, a column of bad pixels will show for few seconds on the left hand side.

It seems the vizio software is reinitializing hardware when returning to the smarttv menu. In general, SmartCast software isn't very good. Also will randomly (relatively infrequent) get no network connection when on wifi and require reboot....
