Vizio SmartCast TV software bug that looks like hardware

Bug looks like hardware so thought I posted it here. Exact same behavior on 2 different model 4K Vizio TVs running their SmartCast smarttv software. After launching youtube app, press vizio button on remote to return to the smarttv menu, once in awhile, a column of bad pixels will show for few seconds on the left hand side.



It seems the vizio software is reinitializing hardware when returning to the smarttv menu. In general, SmartCast software isn't very good. Also will randomly (relatively infrequent) get no network connection when on wifi and require reboot.

with yours ways to exit Youtube or any other app by pressing Visio Home.. mean this app remain running beside each app had his own resolution.

try run Youtube , to exit it press back on RC 2 time until you see on screen ( are you sure want to exit ) ---- yes exit.... you will go back to main home... see if column of bad pixels will show again or not !

You are correct, proper exit process works fine but of course exit youtube (or any other app) completely. This is likely the proper way with Vizio SmartCast but is less convenient. Slower and can't resume the app

Anyway, very natural and easy to want to hit the vizio button while running apps So vizio probably should improve their menu + app resolution change handling. Usually proper app<->app and app<->desktop context switching is quite difficult for less computer operating system developers (how to handle resolution change is one key design complexity). More capable fire + roku developers have solved it well. Google doesn't seem to put too much effort. Almost every native TV manufacturer's own smarttv software have various usability problems.
