    17IPS20P led fault

    Right guys ,
I have a JVC TV which has a 17ips20P unit not the more common 17ips20
Me being an idiot automatically bought a standard 17ips20 for a good price at £17 to hopefully just replace it,
Well anyhow on refitting it has a different led connector has an extra pin so will not fit....
Looked at getting a 17ips20p cheapest is £50 online

So here I am ,I thought I would scratch your heads and possibly do some soldering.

Will send photos of both boards obvious deformity on the 17ips20p lots of soot initially at top of the board.

Fault on TV is , turns on great , but randomly the back light switches off and unable to see screen ,(you can see with a torch) this can range from working for 5 mins to 4 hours.
And a simple reset of the TV rectifys this temporarily

Tried uploading photos via the forum but keep getting fatal error

Turn the backlight down and see if the TV stays on longer, your problem sounds like a faulty/weak LED(s).

If it stays on longer then more than likely bad led/s.

          I'm a fool , I'll return the board then

Is it a difficult job to replace the LEDs?

Some tvs are easier than others but yes it's pretty much a full teardown, check some youtube videos, MUST be very careful with the panel, they are very flimsy and easy to break and some have 2 sided tape holding it down.

Depends which LEDs and lenses are fitted. I use a mini hotplate which makes removing and replacing the LEDs easy but the alignment of the lenses can be tricky. If the alignment isn't spot on you can get bright rings showing on the picture.

                Re: 17IPS20P led fault

                Hello guys,

instead of opening a separate thread, I decided to use this one, since it's not too old and the problem I have is very similar.
I have 39 inch LED TV with 17IPS20 power board. I also have very similar problem. Sometime, I can turn TV on with remote control and it works for a few minutes and then randomly picture goes black, while sound is still ON. I can also switch channels with remote control. I suspected something is wrong with the power board, and I have fond the following very good youtube video:
                https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uPI1QBE0CxI

However most of times after I turn ON the TV, there is no picture (black), but there is sound.

The problem I have is mentioned at 2:00. When turning on the TV, there is a very shirt jump in output DC voltage to cca 185 VDC and then it switches back to 120 VDC. The output voltage is expected to be about 165 VDC if everything is OK. On the cap shown at 5:45, I have 395 VDC (capacitor is 450V), so this could mean that power board is OK and problem is LED backlight. Is there something else I could try with this power board to be sure if it is OK?

                Thank you very much

You should keep the board and resell it yourself.
Not the sellers fault you ordered the wrong part.

                    Dear experts,

I have a question regarding the replacement Vestel 17IPS20 board. I have one from 39inch Telefunken TV and need to buy replacement board. I have ordered the exact model 040313R5. However I now see that the output connectors to the LED panel are different. This replacement model has connector with many pins, while the original board has connector with only two pins.
I know I'll need to solder old connector on the new board. I'm not sure which pins I need to use.

'040313R5' is that the number (PCB Assembly) printed on the bar code sticker?
17IPS20 is the P/N of the blank PCB which can be stuffed to make many difference PCBA for the required. TV model

                            by Rictech
                            Hello everyone. 😀

As per thread title, this unit has a serious SMPSU fault. It blows F1001, which is a 10A M205 in the phase from the mains input.
Very first thing I tried, was simply replacing the fuse, but the replacement ceramic fuse blew immediately.

Looking at the schematic for this PSU, I then removed what I thought was the next likely candidate: D1001 - the HV main bridge rectifier.
This isolated the fault(no longer blows the main fuse), but does not point me to the actual fault.
There are no devices that have exploded or otherwise show signs...

                            by sam_sam_sam
I have been having a fun time at work with two pieces of equipment that had shorted components or shorted component cables to machine frame
I would check what my multi meter was telling me about how many ohms I getting with the multi meter was telling versus the ESR was telling me about weather or not it really was a short to machine ground or not

One note at first we thought that it might be a bad I/O card or a malfunction PLC including me as well but I thought I would try and see if removing the I/O cables would make a difference or not and this time it did make a difference...

                            Hello,
                            I have a strange fault with a Lenovo ThinkPad E14 G2 (Board No. NM-D011 Rev. 1.0).

The first Problem, which I fixed already, was a dead TPS65944AD (USB Type-C) controller. After I fixed this fault, all functions working fine and the notebook run very well with the charger and battery.
On the next day, I tied to start the notebook with the battery, but nothing happened. I started with the charger and on windows, I saw, that the battery was empty. And this was nearly impossible, because the battery was charged. I disconnected the battery and found out, that the board...

                            by spleenharvester
                            Hi all

I bought this Dremel several years ago (8220 + 880 2.0Ah battery). After about a dozen light uses it developed a power fault. I asked Toolstation to start a warranty claim for me and they just refunded me in full without asking for it back instead. Would be nice to fix it instead of consigning to the dustbin.

It is complete luck of the drawer whether it powers on or not. Sometimes it will be completely dead, no lights no response. Switching power on and off repeatedly and/or removing and reinserting the battery will eventually make it spring to life. After that...
