BREAKING NEWS!!!
I took it apart again lol.. everything was great except the top part of the screen had shadowing and I just couldn't settle with it. I took it apart again and religiously taped down the reflector, somehow STILL missing one corner, however I'm satisfied enough that I do not feel the need to open it againbefore and after pictures are attached.
And this is at 55% backlight! This TV actually has a gorgeous picture for what it is!Last edited by x_orange90_x; 03-16-2020, 05:43 PM.Comment

Re: Vizio E470i-A0 Dark Areas After Replacing Backlights
So now, after a couple of months use, I'm greeted with a white vertical line 😟. This looks to be a panel issue as it's common with Vizios... However, last week I picked up the same exact model or if the trash minus smart features. My question is, should I immediately switch the panels, or should I try something else?Comment

Just for anyone's future reference, I swapped the panel out and it's good as new now.Comment

by x_orange90_xI've had this monster for several months as I've hesitated to order backlights for it. Finally did order them and they are due to arrive tomorrow. Besides having ample space to work, are there any recommendations for working on such a massive screen? Should I remove the panel by myself or would 2 people be a better choice? I bought the double-cup suction cups from Harbor Freight and have been using them for the last few repairs on smaller screens. They are far superior to the single cup orange ones I used previously that would often let go without warning 😱.

by bpcannan'Morning,
I get sound and picture when powering on the TV and its stays that EXCEPT that the left half of the screen will dim every few seconds then return to normal while the right side of the screen performs as designed.
Did the soft and hard reset options pulling the plug, using the reet option in the vizio menu to no avail.
I checked the mainboard - found some popped capacitors so replaced it - but that did not change the situation.
I checked the t-con board. It is getting good power. Then I removed one ribbon cable to see if I could isolate... -
by csmithThis Vizio came in the shop with no backlights. Replaced all the strips with replacement from Shop Jimmy. Set now has backlights but lights pulsate on left side. Half the screen brightens up then goes to normal then repeats.
Am I looking at a defective strip? Thanks in advance. -

PSU BOARD: 40-L402H8-PWD1CG
it shows not even a flash of backlight when powering up.
but the tv appeas to turn on and i can hear the sound of the menus moving and clicking. i can power down the tv with the button.
testing the backlights with my tester all 4 strings lit up and showed similar voltage drops. around 110 or so.
unplug mb and leave only psu plugged into backlights (PSU + BL SELF TEST MODE?) does not light the backlights.
i do see 24v but 0v on PSON and BLON (i didnt write this down tho so cant be sure)
with mb connected, PSON... -
by x_orange90_xI just got this tv today and it appeared to have no backlight on. After taking off the rear cover and checking again in the dark I can see that MAYBE one quadrant is lit.. But still it's quite dim. I was going to check the LEDs with my tester, and I found LED 1 and LED 2 + pins on the wire from the inverter, but I couldn't identify a ground. Nonetheless I tried using a mounting screw on the inverter board and also the chassis as ground but regardless my tester reads 300 which is what it reads when there is no voltage draw.
I don't know how exactly to test the inverter itself. Is it... - Loading...
