I have acquired a non-functional Vizio M50-C1. Previous posts have revealed higher than expected voltages on the 12v pins (recorded at 19v). Mine is the same. LED on main board illuminates when plugged in as solid red. When powering up, it changes to red and blue. The power indicator comes on then fades out as normal. Nothing displayed on the screen even with the flashlight test. No backlights at any time. Remote functions, turning the TV on and off. Power will cycle about every two minutes. From my reading of others before me, it appears to be a short in the main board. Replacing the board will run about $60 plus shipping. Trying to eliminate any other possibilities before I spend the bucks. Pictures can be posted if required.

Re: Vizio M50-C1 Nothing on screen, no backlights
I have read that post at least five times before creating an account and posting my query. I'm fairly confident it's the main board but was looking for any other possible test methods I could try to confirm. Thanks.Comment

Re: Vizio M50-C1 Nothing on screen, no backlights
Most likely mainboard, try with tv unplugged from power, unhook cable from powerboard to mainboard, plug tv back into outlet, see if backlights come on and stay on.Comment

Had 2 or 3 threads lately, where the 12 was 19 volts and fault was mainboard.Comment

Re: Vizio M50-C1 Nothing on screen, no backlights
Guys, thanks for the participation. Decided to just get the replacement board and TV is now functional. Would like to know more about deep diving on these boards to identify the faulty part. That probably takes more electronics education than I have been exposed to. Will continue to improve and try new things. On to the next one.....Thanks.Comment

Re: Vizio M50-C1 Nothing on screen, no backlights
Looks like Mxx-C1 series suffers from BGA failures of the lead free solder balls used on the main processor that crack over time. This problem affects LG LV series, LG LS series, laptops, Xboxes and PS3's. If you took a hair dryer to the processor before plugging it in, then it should have expanded the joints enough to make contact and start up the tv to confirm the failure.Comment

by Ryan.manHello everybody! Posting this in hopes somebody has some expertise that leads to a clear path of troubleshooting that saves me a lot of time!
My macbook has the flex cable problem, the one that prevents the screen turning on. Ive been dealing with this for the last 3 years. Last year it went dead and I managed to fix it following youtube tutorials. But my fix wasnt the best, the problem returned a month later. This week, it went dead again. I again tried to fix it.
This time the original cable broke too close to the screen, it can't be fixed without tearing the screen... -
by dicky96Hi guys
I'm trying to fix this laptop screen
Basically the owner is a computer shop and they brought it to me with two screens. They said the repair shop they use could not fix it, so I thought i would try to see if I am better than their current repairer!
OK so I have the original screen which works but has lines across the bottom quarter of the screen
I have the replacement screen, which they fitted and it worked. They then put the laptop on one side for a couple of weeks until they found a buyer. When they showed it to the buyer, the screen would... -

by smic717394Hi,
I have a iphone XS that came in for a screen replacement, the screen was badly cracked, and inside missing scues, on the back of the screen still the blue protector, the screen was a LCD. So we replaced the screen and all good, installed the screen and we noticed that pressing the screen with a bit of force but not excessive, the phone dies. After plugging the charger it turns back on, but again if you press it it dies. I open the phone again, and I can't see anything major, with the phone open, if I press on the logic board, battery, charging board, or even putting pressure on... -
