    vizio e600b3 power supply

    Hello,

This is my 1st time at fixing LED TVs.

Problem: 5 year old vizio e600b3 suddenly stopped working.

Issue: After pulling back off the and viewing many, many, videos I replaced my 30+ year old analog ohm-meter and bought a uni-t 61E digital multimeter. I diagnosed the issue as a problem with the Power Board as there was 0 voltage on the 4 - 27 volt pins. I ordered a new PCB from online supplier.

New Issue: I installed the 'new' power board and I still have 0 voltage on the 4 - 27 volt pins !! I removed the cables connecting the power board to the main board and the readings and received the same readings. I have a pic of the new board with labels on the 27 volt pins.

    Any ideas???

You want to test connector on powerboard with the 15 pins, it's the longer one of the two there. Test connector from mainboard to powerboard on powerboard side with all boards hooked up, test with tv plugged in but off then hit power, report both conditions here, give pin number, pin description/name and condition both off and when you hit power on.

Check the fuse on powerboard if you didn't already.

I thought ground lead was to the nearest board screw?

Lots use chassis/metal back of tv for ground for this testing, meter set at 20 vdc.

Check CN201 (Pins 8or9) for 12 volts, next check pin 3 (PS-ON), press the power button and see if the PS-ON voltage changes. If the PS-ON does not change, it could be a main board fault
You won't have +27 volts untill the power supply board is turned on (PS-ON) It looks like CN201 pins 10~13 are not used
When the power supply board is turned on you should get 12V-AU on cn201 pin4

my ps-on pin3, doesn't change voltage, everything else you said checks out. What is really odd is on the cn301 lead ,pin 8 (isns) is giving me some odd readings: it is all over the place; plugged in - off or power on - between a high of .54v to a low of almost 0v. also it reads almost like there is a charge and disharge in the range. usually it hangs around.22v-.32v. I will type out all the pin voltage reads in the morning. thanks for your help

What Voltage do you when measured between the two legs of either one of the two main filter caps (68uf 450vdc rated) in the hot side? It should be about 380 ~ 400VDC.
The main board is also not sending any control signals on pin 11, 12, 14, and 15 (without pin's names) of cn201.

Seems like a mainboard fault, try with tv unplugged from outlet, unplug cable from powerboard to mainboard, plug tv back into outlet, take readings on the same pins 1-15 see what you get, be careful to only touch one pin at a time with probe.

Can I measure this with a multimeter while the cap is on the board? I thought I need an evr?

Of course you have to test the Voltage between the two legs of the cap with it still on board and TV is plugged in and powered up, you will be working in the deadly side of the circuit so I hope you know what you are doing. We are trying to find out if the PFC Voltage booster circuit is working or not.
                            What is 'evr'?

I decided to use my Energy Verifying Raygun (EVR) and now Everything works! The esr meter was worthless.

Well, I do know it was the power not the main board because I was mixing up 2 power boards - and one them works. And, The tv turned on and the voltages were okay.

I want to thank nomoresonys and budm for Taking the time to help me. Hope next time to have a more challenging project.
