I noticed on the frc board theres a 6 prong socket. And the cable for thr backlight fits perfectly to it.

Look at the back of the frc board, you will see that plug is likely for programing or testing the frc board
UART_TX, UART_RX, ETC.

I found a UART_TX and UART_RX but they're on the same socket as the bl plug that fit perfectly.

This board looks like it doesnt get any power if the main isnt plugged up. so how would i test it.

I'm trying to get the backlights on. This tv has been moved several times sents it went out, i plan on buying a kit with all the boards. but i wanted to double check the screen is still okay. It looks okay to me upon glancing at it but you never know right? I dont wanna mess with it if its a bad LED or something. I had a hard enough time taking the panel off a 42'. I dont even want to think about trying to get a 60' apart ><

I was actually able to confirm the button works as ir should. Followed the wires. Saw a voltage drop upon pressing on.

I used a reflow station to heat things up. No change. Im pretty sure that it is the eeprom. But the fact that i cant get it on concerns me a bit. Maybe element is weird and requires other things to get the backlight on

Disconnect the cable's Con3 and Con6 from the main board, plug in the power supply an check the voltages on con3 and con6 and mark them on the picture, that way we can tell the state of the power supply in standby, without the main connected. then we can tell if a pin needs to be taken high or low to change its state.
You should only have the standby voltage in this state.

Yep thats the one im gonna buy. Soon as i know for sure the screen is fine i'll be ordering it.

I actually sent an email to them about not having my eeprom and they said their 'investigating the issue" So we'll see what they get back with.

The first picture must be with the plugs connected. If you don't disconnect the main board you could damage it when forcing on the power supply. Also having the main connected could be preventing the blon and adj from changing state.
You need 3 resistors 1k~5k its not that important.
Connect the first resistor between stby 5 volts and PSON, that will turn on the power supply
Then connect another resistor between stby 5 volts and BLON and see if you get backlights, if not also connect a resistor between stby 5 volts and adjust pin

Yep thats the one im gonna buy. Soon as i know for sure the screen is fine i'll be ordering it.

Sad end to this story. Your advice worked. it just needed a signal to BL ADJ to turn on. Sadly it appears the screen is cracked. My mom had taken it from her house to a tv repair guy then to my house and it must have hit a bump sometime then. Shes not great at being gentle which is why i wanted to verify the screen was ok before buying them. luckily i didnt order those parts yet. Thanks for all your help guys. This ones closed

Definitely learned how to do that. So it wasnt a total waste. Just wish i had done this first before wasting a week trying to figure out why it wouldnt turn on.

Never liked the picture quality in those emersons, I'd look for a sony or panny maybe even an lg or sharp to fix up.
