    Sansui 55" LCD T V Model STY0955 (Backlight issue)

    Hi guys,
I have this set with a backlight issue that i need to resolve rather urgently. The problem is a s follows, Upon pressing standby the tv's picture comes up and backlight is present. I measured about 55V (Picture bright and correct) on each of the LED+ supply with respect to chassis ground. The return voltages i.e the LED- varies from 2.2V to about 1.6V (is that normal?) After running for about 20 seconds the back lights switch off and the LCD is still working (Flashlight test)
I opened up the panel and observed all the LED's they all lit up properly ran for a short while and then switched off all together. I did not notice perhaps a strip going off first nothing. My question is, is the protection circuit so fast that you can't see a bad connection or LED before the LED supply circuit trips?
Anyway, i checked the LED driver IC and got its datasheet and saw that this chip has plenty of protection. Things like LED over volt, LED under volt, Thermal and Open LED protection.
I measured around the IC by soldering a thin wire to a circuit and then starting up the TV and then suddenly the LED+ voltage went to 38V. The LED's are now barely visible but are glowing slightly. I scoped the driver voltage waveform and it seems that the LED driver chip is driving the LED circuit at minimum duty cycle. I dont know what i did wrong. I am 100% sure that i made no short circuit. It feels like the LED driver circuit was faulty and now failed completely. I do have a circuit diagram for this board...
I still have to look at the drive voltage for DIM or ADJ from main board but dont know what to expect there.
As a test i tried to measure on each branch of LED strip what the current draw is and coupled my ammeter in series with one of the branches but the power supply did not like that and shut down the back light voltage immediately. Don't know why it responded like that?
Any help as to where i can start or measure?

    Regards

You have 6 LED strings with 6 LED driver controllers, so when it stops working what do you get on each one of the LED -?
Please also provide good clear straight shot pictures of the Top and bottom side of the power supply board.
You need to also provide the Voltages of each pin of the connector of the power supply that goes to the main board when the TV is working OK and when it is not, make sure to provide the pin name follow by the Voltage reading for each pin.

        Hello Budm,
I will probably get to this set on Saturday but in the mean time i was wondering if you can assist me in understanding how this power supply interfaces the main boards Adjust pin (I assume this is the back light intensity control) and biases the LED IC's PWM pin. What is the minimum and maximum voltage to bias this LED driver from 0% to 100%. The datasheet does not tell me much. I have added the circuit diagram as well as the LED driver IC.
BTW, there is no back light user adjustment in the TV menu's.

LED backlight failure is very common in these RCA/Sansui TVs. Backlight can be only set in the service menu under panel settings. With TV on, menu-1-1-4-7 with remote. Default was 80 in one I looked at and I always set to 55 or 60 after backlight replacement/repair.

I need better and clearer pictures of that power supply/LED driver board, I cannot read the pin names of the connectors.
Is that the schematic for your power supply board?
Look at the ADJ pin with the oscilloscope.

Yes Budm, the schematic i had attached is for my PSU, i will now scope the ADJ pin and post pictures soon.

iPad Pro 12.9 5th Gen Backlight Issue
                      by cheebster
Hello, got an iPad Pro A2378 12.9 5th gen with no backlight. Got another test unit without screen, tested the screen, still no backlight with the test unit.
Figured out the backlight on the screen was bad, ordred a new backlight from mobilesentrix, *carefully replaced it* without damaging the lcd, oh well.
Final result, issue is still there, the screen has no back lights. So i'm back to square one, with 3 hours less and 100$ out, issue still on the screen.
The panel is still ok, i can see the apple in the middle of the screen when it kicks in, just no backlight.
                      Anyone...

                      TCL 65C715 backlight issue
                      by Cornito
                      Hello team,

                      I'm back with another topic.
It's a 65C715 TCL tv with backlight issue.

But the problem is a bit strange.
When I took this tv from the marketplace backlight didn't work but picture was ok.
Back at home I checked with led tester if led are alive and I can find something different in term of voltage supply => nothing

Putting all back together the tv worked fine for weeks. => Contact issue??

Few moment later the tv has started to have backlight issue back, turning off and on worked sometimes and tv was working....

                      Back Story
I just recently purchased a RZ09-01652 Razer Blade 14 Touch v4(2016) as a project. I suspect the original motherboard had overheated and caused board damage to the vrm's for the CPU and GPU as now that motherboard works however will lockup on you often due to hardware clock issues.
So after some research and looking at options for replacement motherboards I got a replacement RZ09-01952 razer blade 14 motherboard which has the 1060 vs the 970m that was in my original motherboard. I have contacted the seller about the motherboard being bad however I doubt they will be...
