I order that double-sided tape from shopjimmy when I replace the LED strips in the LG, it keeps the strip staying flat and a little heat transfer to the chassis, not much but better than nothing.

If the LEDs dont sit flat, they can be come visible through the diffusers causing bright spots and an uneven backlight. Contact with the back metal panel is also for heatsinking.

My friend already ordered the led strips and had to pay over $9 shipping..now Shopjimmy wants to charge me over $9 shipping for double sided tape priced at $5.99, I can't see paying that much shipping..he is already paying that shipping..I wonder if we can call Shopjimmy and have them add the tape to his order if we can catch them in time before they ship the LED Strips.

That makes sense to me, I wonder if I can buy some of the same type double sided tape from somewhere locally like Ace Hardware or Walmart.

It is very very this tape and can handle some heat, you also need to clean off the old tapes for the chassis and from the replacement strips you get from SJ since they do not completely remove the old tapes from the strips.

I thought these were brand new LED Strips from Shopjimmy? are these used LED Strips that they replace all individual bulbs in them? I wish they would have had something to say this double sided tape should be ordered along with the strips.

When I place my order for the LED strips I get a little message prompt pop up about the the tape.
Most of the LED strips are from broken screens, if they are new it will say so.

I have the e470-a0 with the same trouble. I'm getting ready to do the same thing. Did you have any trouble taking out the actual LCD panel? I'm a little worried about the large screen flexing and breaking.

Any pro-tips would be appreciated.

My friend ordered the LED Strips on my computer but used his credit card so I didn't see what he was doing. I guess I will order the tape from Shopjimmy and have to pay the shipping again. since the LED Strips have already been shipped.I want to do the job right..Thanks budm for letting me know.

My friend and I worked together lifting the screen which did flex a little but not that much. all pieces that go behind the screen were placed in a stack in the same order we took them out and then will be put back in proper sequence.

budm 2 rows of the strips will not light up but the other 4 rows do light up fine..I used three 9 volt batteries in series to get 27 vdc. used this to test the led strips. do you think the two that did not light up could have a shorted LED somewhere in those 2 strips. Thanks.

I need to see how the strips are connected together inside the panel to form 2 LED strings.
If the bad string has open circuit then you will not have Voltage on the D- which is the Cathode return for each LED string.
