This TV had a logo flash on plug in which is symptoms of a bad LED backlights. Replaced 4 shorted LEDs and now getting horizontal lines. Tcon ribbons connected one at a time show both vertical and horizontal lines with one side. Confirm this is a bad panel before I scrap this tv?

Re: LG 50LA6205 Bad Backlight and Bad Panel
Thanks Davi.p! Was ready to take the TV to recycling and decided one last attempt with the tape method on the tcon ribbon after reassembling the TV. Luckily none of the parts sold yet on ebay. On the side that showed lines (right), I blocked off around 20 pins on the leftmost side and it worked!!Comment

Good works! Lets see how long it will last, at least it is working for now.
Can I get good clear pictures of the T-CON board so may be I can see what those pins are for.Never stop learning

Re: LG 50LA6205 Bad Backlight and Bad Panel
OK, where do you have found instructions on how to block signals? I have tried with my 50 inch Hisense w/AUO panel but the result is not perfect, the line still persist due to some gate drv outputs maybe shorted that keep the opposite output low or high, the bigger part of defect is disappeared.. the outer part of the flat is usually reserved for clock signals to the gate drivers.. In mine i have blocked only one signal that disables all the faulty side gate drv, but i will try block others.. maybe it's necessary also to block VGON/VGOFFLast edited by Davi.p; 09-20-2018, 01:56 PM.Comment

Re: LG 50LA6205 Bad Backlight and Bad Panel
Saw two youtube videos before about putting tape on the tcon ribbons. One wasn't really clear what he was doing. Tape is actually used to block the pins and not to apply more pressure to the contacts. Another one I recall was to vary the pins blocked and location. Mainly trial and error with the location and width of the tape. I'll see if I can find them since it was awhile ago.
I fixed a Samsung before blocking just a few pins.

Re: LG 50LA6205 Bad Backlight and Bad Panel
Hi neil, i suspect your customer has mains power line disturbances, next time i suggest you to protect all the screen (backlight and tcon/panel matrix) with TVS diodes or varistors and check the backlight driver's power semicon for cracks in solders and esr of the output el.caps. The suppressors must blow a fuse so your work will be easy and cheap in replacing it.. Bye.Last edited by Davi.p; 12-31-2018, 01:34 AM.Comment

by howardc64All left and right refers to looking from rear of TV (or looking from front with TV upside down)
- TV came with vertical bars and no image. Found faulty TVS on left buffer board. Also replaced T-Con (may have damaged the original while hot air removing components, board has slight warp) and have full image but few horizontal lines on the screen. Some of the lines appears to be 2 pixel tall while others are 1 pixel tall.
- Disconnecting left and right buffer board potentially reveals problems on both sides with different signals (unless this T-Con require jumper like Samsung FB_TRDY1&3) Fault

I have a TCL 55P6US with sound and backlight but no picture. This model does not have a T-CON board, and the right (rear perspective) panel board is fed from the left panel board. I have not been able to induce any change by disconnecting the secondary panel board or the tape cut-off method on the primary board.
There are a bunch of voltages missing on the panel boards. I can't find any shorted caps of the panel boards, and all of the missing voltage rails read in the kiloohms, which leads me to suspect the issue may lie on the circuit board, rather than a short in the panel.

by Sharx112Hello community. I've got an ASUS VA27EHE with a Panda LC270lf1l01 panel that started to behave strangely. A bit of intro:
If you power on the monitor without any inputs it turns on, displays the ASUS logo, shows no signal and goes into standby normally. When you plug it via HDMI sometimes and more recently, most of the times, it distorts the bios logo with horizontal lines, then when loading into windows 50-50 the windows emblem also is in horizontal lines. And after the system loads it almost always works properly, lol. On some rare occasions a part in the top of the monitor is being distorted...-

by learnmoreHello Community,
I'm working on a Samsung UE70TU7020K.
It looks like a bad panel. There is only 1 FPC cable from the Tcon (built into mainboard) to the panel.
I'm using a piece of tap a few mils (covers about 8-10 pins), at different locations and have had varying results but nothing that is remotely watchable (multiple lines across all the screen, half screen and total black out on screen). The buffer board is divided into 3 boards. I've disconnected the end board one at a time but each time the screen was totally black. I presume it's because the potential...03-15-2024, 03:01 PM -
by x_orange90_xI just acquired this 3D LED yesterday and it has horizontal lines on a little more than half of the screen. When I first turn it on it has thin black lines going across that makes the image look serrated, and then shortly after patterns of thicker red lines fade in. If I turn it off and right back on it will reset to just the black lines and the red will again fade onto the screen.
I initially thought tab bonds, but flexing the bezel makes no difference, and the fact the image sort of resets after cycling power is different. I haven't opened it up yet to actually test applying... - Loading...
