    Sony TV 24-ex-430 LCD Scratched

I bought a used Sony LCD/LED TV which is working perfectly but it has a 3mm sharp scratch on the screen/panel (see images in the link).
Can anyone tell me if the scratch is only superficial and it has not damaged the underlying pixels.

Is there a chance that the scratch will spread over time and become bigger than it is now. I plan to install a screen guard to the TV and before that just want to make sure that the scratch was not that deep enough to have caused any damage to the LCD display.

Assuming the worst case that the scratch has cut through the underlying pixels in its path ... will the damage to the lcd screen be limited to the pixels that are damaged or it may start spreading and become worse during normal usage.

    Many thanks for your time.

The lcd panels are glass but there is a plastic film covering them, It is likely just the plastic film that is damaged, if it went through into the class there would be a very large crack in the glass. Just leave it alone as it can't be repaired

Is there any chance that the scratch would expand during normal use.Does it make the lcd screen brittle in that area and any slight tension on the lcd screen will result in a crack in future. What i mean by slight tension is occasional touching of lcd screen by finger tips/nails.

Can this scratch develop into a crack ? Are the LCD screens so fragile that a scratch would eventually develop into a crack during normal usage. Do i need to worry about the scratch that is 3-4mm on a 24inch lcd/led tv.?

No. This scratch will not and has not weaken the LCD glass at that point. If it is bearable/tolerable while watching movies etc then just leave it alone. try to polish or buff it out will make a bigger spot on the screen.

thanks a lot for the replies. finally got rid of my worries about the extent of damage the scratch would cause on the LCD glass. I am just going to put a screen guard on the lcd so that such scratches do not occur again.

Macbook 2017 with touchbar (A1706) won't turn on after removing the screen
            by Ryan.man
Hello everybody! Posting this in hopes somebody has some expertise that leads to a clear path of troubleshooting that saves me a lot of time!

My macbook has the flex cable problem, the one that prevents the screen turning on. Ive been dealing with this for the last 3 years. Last year it went dead and I managed to fix it following youtube tutorials. But my fix wasnt the best, the problem returned a month later. This week, it went dead again. I again tried to fix it.

This time the original cable broke too close to the screen, it can't be fixed without tearing the screen...

Macbook Air M2 A2681 Kernel panics after screen replacement
            by reformatt
Just had a customer bring in a M2 MBA A2681 that had had a screen replacement in April at another repairer. Since then, she has been getting intermittent kernel panics. It's an aftermarket screen, and of course it fails in diagnostics as the calibration hasn't been done. The error in the panic log is "No device added after powering on the rails".

It seems the original repairer has swapped the board and the screen to other MAC's, and said that it isn't a screen issue. From what I understand, by doing a quick search on Google, this is in fact a screen issue. The panic relates...

Sony KD-55XG9505 lines on screen problem
            by Chrissygizmo
            Hello again everyone,

This is my latest mission, to try getting this Sony tv back to normal working order…

I've only just got it today, when you power it up everything is as should be, in fact it works perfectly for a few minutes then the screen starts getting horizontal lines on & eventually the full screen goes back, I will upload photos of the problem & also some photos of the board etc. You might notice that I'm busy trying the tape method, I'm not sure exactly where the clock lines are so I'm just guessing & hoping for the best lol . I've already tried...

iphone XS turns off when press on screen.
            by smic717394
            Hi,

I have a iphone XS that came in for a screen replacement, the screen was badly cracked, and inside missing scues, on the back of the screen still the blue protector, the screen was a LCD. So we replaced the screen and all good, installed the screen and we noticed that pressing the screen with a bit of force but not excessive, the phone dies. After plugging the charger it turns back on, but again if you press it it dies. I open the phone again, and I can't see anything major, with the phone open, if I press on the logic board, battery, charging board, or even putting pressure on...

Black screen on Sony 65x90ch (65x900h from Costco)
            by Adam Russ
Weird issue with this tv. Was streaming to the from a computer when it stopped working and the screen went black. Ever since then there has been. o image. Just a black screen. The audio works and yhe backlights do come on when it's powered on, it's just a black image. It presented like a backlight issue. So I finally got around to getting new backlights and a backlight tester. All of them test the same as the good backlights with the same voltages. There are no blinking lights. Just the white led at startup and when buttons on the remote are pressed signaling it's receiving from the remote....
