    New TVs LED issues

So I was at my local Target store last night getting supplies for the kiddos and decided to walk over to the electronics department. To my surprise this is what I saw with the TV's on the wall.

This is the crap being sold today. They can't even make it as a display unit let alone at your home. All the brands had some sort of LED failure...

This my friends is what keeps us busy..

When new TVs come out of the box, they are defaulted (generally) to 100% backlight level. If you take two TVs, set one up to "retina scorch" and the other to replicate an accurate studio monitor, 100% of the people walking by will say the retina scorch model has a better picture than the accurate one. This is the same as doing an A/B listening test with stereos; set one with bass and treble cranked and people will pick that every time.

BUT, it gets worse because some models have a "HOME" or "DEMO" mode option which is the first thing to pop up when the TV is turned on. Walmart Schmo picks demo which bangs the back lights beyond the 100% level. When some poor fool brings this demo home, it's already shot.

That is why our Wally World has no RCA, Westinghouse, Emerson etc hung up anymore. Only low to medium end Samsungs, Sony etc. are hung up. No Vizio at all in that store.

                    Re: New TVs LED issues

Dont forget the backlight is probably on full and turned on all the time but indeed , the leds die pretty quick.

LG / Panasonic is the same .....nice tv's but the leds fail to quick.
I only repair Panasonic plasma tv's! Currently owning a TX-P55VT50 and still searching for a ZT60!

Hehe. I remember when my Dynex vestel rebadge was new it was a POS, yet its a million times better than the LED shit they sell these days. Sad really.

My 58” Vizio had some leds go bad after about 18months. Though reading everything on the net now, I shouldn’t have my backlight at 100 if I wanted less to last. I’m in the process of trying to find replacement LED strips for my 58”, but no luck.
