    Bad panel or electronics issue?

    Hi again!
This user is selling a LG RZ-42PX11.
He describes the issue as "everything shows up pixelated".
He sent the attached picture and he said it's always like that.
He lives far from me so before I try to buy it I'm trying to determine if it's a PANEL issue or a BOARD issue, to guess if I will be able to fix it a a reasonable price.
Can you guess what's wrong from the attached picture?

    Thanks a lot!

Probably not the panel i would suspect T-con ,but really why would you bother with a 42 inch tv . if its free ok but i would not even consider if he wants money for it

Well everyone here post their broken TVs for sale "for repair or parts" and they want money. If I get a reasonable price (low 10's) isn't it still worth getting a 42" TV in working condition for $20 more bucks for the T-con board?

My 1st thought would be T-CON Bd, then my 2nd guess would be Main Bd. This does not look like Panel problem. Not sure if the replacement Bds are available, depending on the price and age. If you can fix the Bds. then I would say 'Go for it'.........

I vote mainboard. Reseat LVDS first.
Did I leave the soldering iron on?

Sounds good, I like that everyone hee is agreing that the panel looks OK, which is my main concern.
Ok I will probably check availability for those boards and then decide.
            Thanks folks!

Firstly, this is is a plasma tv,and has no t-con.These are the first plasma sets I started with, and have repaired lots of them in the past.it's a very old set, from 2006.this has a failed lower buffur board-the bottom ic fails consistently.Best avoided, for two reasons-it's very old-and secondly,a buffer board would now be as rare as hens teeth,Unless you fancy swapping a 128 pin chip!

steviewonder is spot on and personally even if the set was free I wouldn't bother. Just gave away a similar plasma (Celestial never heard of it before) which I got going again by cleaning side buttons - power hog and 720 pic. The recipient had given me an LG plasma to look at but it too is old and not worth too much time and effort nor money.

                  Hi.
First of all, I would try the panel alone with a panel test.
Then I would go to look for the failure on the logic.

Re: Bad panel or electronics issue?

I wouldn't bother with any of that.Failure of the bottom I.C on the lower buffer board. It's a fact!....removal of the the lower buffer will result in half a picture. If you don't mind 1.5 " of picture missing from the bottom, simply remove it. (the I.C)
A cheap option fix for a otherwise good performer in it's day.with outstanding sound quality .The IC mentioned will have pinholes in it,where it is burnt.
                    Good luck!

Thanks guys for all the advice. Yes steve, when I read T-con something inside me was asking "isn't this a plasma TV??". But I'm not knowledgeable enough to discuss much in this subject. All I've done is repair 2 or 3 sets.
Finally I won't be picking this TV, not only cause the fix doesn't look too easy, also the seller lives 200 Km away from me and also he's asking 50€!! Too much for the risk.

                            Thanks again guys

Samsung UN65TU8000 - Panel Issue [ hole in ribbon cable ]
                              by NWArkGuy
Well, I will be the first to admit that I screwed up...

In attempting to replace the backlight in a UN65TU8000, I made a hole through one of the ribbon cables between the board that runs along the bottom of the back of the TV and the panel. This lead to a between a 1/4 to 1/2 inch vertical stripe running the full height of the image.

I don't have the experience; personally, to solder a bridging wire for the paths that were cut. So, I have been on the hunt for other Samsung TV's of similar size.

I have 2 that I have found and have in my possession. ...

                              Hi

The TV seem to start ( blinking green) but goes into blinking red. No display and or backlight. Full view photo.

                              Actions :

                              1. Disconnected Panel's Right, 2nd, board : TV comes ON (steady green , no blinking red )
1a. You can see in two photos the B/W screen , fading blue "HDMI12" , and the wierd sides of the image, like an old CRT.
Obviously the fault is from or on the Right, secondary board

                              2. I taped the Flex tracks, ~2 tracks at a time- see Photo. The issue seems to be on the V lines (Assuming Data...

I've been seeing a lot of the new TVs (samsung and LG only i think) maybe 1-2 years old suffering from sudden panel death and have been over 50% successful bringing them at least most of the way back to functionality if not all the way, with the tape masking of the LVDS pins method.
add this one to the list. the issue was on the left side of the panel and i ended up blocking just 3 pins on the connector that joins the two panel boards that make up the left side of the panel (it has 4 boards total) i didnt get the picture back to 100% perfect. i spent hours fiddling with which pins to block...

                              Hello everyone,

Thanks in advance for any help you can provide.

I have a Mi Curved Gaming Monitor 34". A few weeks ago it started to show (or not showing) horizontal lines. Of course, it's outside of the warranty period.

After some hours of reading and watching videos I disassembled the monitor and checked the ribbons that go from the TCON board to the panel PCB. If I disconnect the ribbon for the right side of the panel, the other half shows a perfect image. I ordered a "new" TCON, installed it and the issue persists so that tells me it must...
