    EEPROM Programmer

Does anybody use an EEPROM programmer for TVs? I'm seeing more TVs with EEPROMS messed up and wanted to get my own programmer and do it. Please chime in if you have any advise.

Here is what I just ordered so I hope it does the trick. I assume you have done this? Anyway I could talk you into holding my hand on getting started? Or I could send you some cash even???

        Re: EEPROM Programmer

Hi, i have modified the ch341 to allow for 5v serial eeproms, it works, then i have bought the RT809F that claims to help programming some MCU and some programmable Gamma ref. voltage that i need to reprogram on two TVs, it's on travel, now i miss a programmer for the parallel flash memories..

What are you struggling with ? Forget using the clip, they are rubbish.

              Re: EEPROM Programmer

Not struggling yet. Just ordered the programmer above and never did a chip before. I need to know where to get the bin files then maybe a step by step with the software. I'm not a n00b to TV repair. I always just bought the pre-programmed chips but thought I could save a bit of time and money especially time because everyone wants the TV fixed TODAY! and do not realize parts need to get ordered sometimes. Years ago I messed with re-programming satellite cards so not exactly new with programming either. If we can get some pro's to chime in maybe this can be a sticky instructional thread?? I would also be willing to pay for private help if necessary. I also hope to lean how to reprogram a bios in a laptop as some I get are locked. I work for Midwest Electronics Recycling and am in charge of repairing what can be repaired and re-sold.

getting the bin files is the hard part as they need to match the mainboard and lcd panel used in the tv there is a recently new thread here with some bin files and links https://www.badcaps.net/forum/showthread.php?t=59877
regarding your programmer i see theirs a few youtube videos that may help you get started

No need to sticky. Find bin, remove chip from board. Place chip on the reader. Read and save the original bin. Erase the chip, program with the bin and verify. This step is repeated by some and the bin compared but I don't. Resolder the chip, done.

Yes there are some Russian videos for this model of programmer.. (very boring but useful..)
there is also a site in Chinese you can translate, with a forum with example on many chip types..

                            Only if they are good.
I do replace if i feel they aren't 100% though.

The difference is the spring loaded clip and connector board.
I bought one but always struggled to get proper contact with all 8 pins so quickly threw it in the junk drawer.

So that spring loaded clip and connector is needed for 8 pin eeproms or does it just hold them better?

It's designed to clip onto the chips whilst they are still mounted to the board.
It's much better IMO to remove from the board. They are then soldered to the other PCB with headers that then goes into the programmer. The chip is then removed with hot air and put back on the board.

Gotcha thanks. So I don't need the adapter then correct? Can remove from PCB and put on to the programmer without the adapter?

One thing is I don't see where the software would be used to program. Do you download off a website?

I keep seeing people in the Tv forum asking for eeprom programming and a lot of them seem to use a CH341a.

Is there a reason why this seems to be so popular? Or are there better and preferable alternatives?

Are there ones which a novice would be better off using?

                                          Any suggestions welcome.

                                          Greetings badcaps community,

I havent done this for a long time and want to start it all again, after some evil and annyoing illness.
So I apologize in advance, if some phrases might sound a bit like gibberish or illogical to you.

Im trying my best to fully describe what I plan to achieve and hope I was choosing the right sub-forum for my new adventure.

                                          I have a Elitebook 820 G1 and a Elitebook 840 G2 here.

These ask for a password when entering the BIOS, but boot just fine from the internal SSD.

                                          I learned that desoldering...

I tore apart my instrument cluster for my 2008 Toyota Corolla made in 2007 in Cambridge, Ontario, Canada and pcb location: IC6=EEPROM is a surface mounted device with part # of 93C46W7, some claim the EEPROM out of a Camry part # 93C56 will allow odometer to roll over 299 999 KM or miles. The data sheet for both is below:

Anyone know if the Camry one will work on my Corolla?. And which EEPROM reader/writers do you all recommend I purchase that will allow me to read the old values of the old...

Hi I should program this eeprom: 25Q128JVSM Winbond but my EZP2019 + programmer gives me the attached message in the picture that I don't understand.
Can you help me? Thank you...

Pioneer DEX-P99rs "No EEProm " diagnostic code.
                                          by dmccul2698
Hello, My head unit developed strange behaviors so I ran the built-in diagnostic package which returned "No EEProm". The service manual says there is no EEProm connected. I approached Pioneer and they said to swap out the DSP board. All said and good but the DSP board is $860 USD. I am hoping someone can help me

1). Understand the schematic and check the connections between the EEProm and DSP
2). Check the functionality of the EEProm

I don't know if this is the unit's problem but it's a place to start.

I have little to no electronic experience...
