Sharp LC-60EQ10U 3 long blinks, 1 short blink

Hello, I'm looking for some help on fixing my parents-in-law's tv. The tv is a Sharp LC-60EQ10U. They said that the display had dark horizontal bars that were spaced a few inches apart (I don't have pictures of this display issue). The tv would not respond to the remote or tv power buttons and was eventually shut off by pulling the power cord. The tv display would not turn on and an error flashing code started on the front of the tv with 3 long flashes and 1 short flash.

So far I've tried replacing the main board and a t-con board purchased off of ebay with no change in the tv. I also removed the ribbon cables from the t-con board and the backlight came on. When I removed the left two ribbon cables from the t-con board, the screen showed a white screen on the side with the removed ribbons and a picture on the other half of the screen. When I removed only the far left ribbon cable from the t-con board, the screen showed thin colored vertical lines on the side with the removed ribbon cable and a picture on the other half. I've tried to look at the side tabs, but there is nothing connected to the side tabs on the tv that I've been able to find, only the tabs on the bottom of the lcd panel.

Any suggestions of what to try next? Any help/suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Whew! The tv is fixed. I peeled off the tabs on the right side of the tv. I started with the tab on the bottom that appeared scorched. The display was much better in the area where I had removed the tab, but was still poor higher up on the display. I removed the other 4 tabs and the screen looks great. I found some great information in a few other threads. https://www.badcaps.net/forum/showth...arp+lc-60eq10u https://www.badcaps.net/forum/showth...arp+lc-60eq10u

I was so excited now i need to get a new one.

I am so impressed by this forum and this thread, I just rescued my Sharp Aquos 60 by using the info I gained from this thread. This must be a fairly common problem, but I do believe it was a power spike during a small thunderstorm that caused the issue with the Component built into on the Tabs. And just in case I am right, I will be running my Aquos and all the devices it connects to on a UPS/battery to protect it better than the surge suppressing power strip I had it on. Many Thanks to all contributors and Badcaps.net.

          hi guys.. i am having a similar issue.. ( LC-60LE650U )
Same flash codes ( 3 long 1 short ) from what i read here, mine is not the same issue.
the screen does not light up at all, and separating the ribbon cables has no effect.
so i did a bit more research and believe its the PS board. but at this point i have no clue what to look for 1st. without a schematic.
does anyone have one or know of what to check for as a culprit ?
          thanks..

@dacflyer, First things first: Test connector from mainboard to powerboard on powerboard side, sholud be a little legend/map of expected voltages, test with tv plugged in but off then hit power, report both conditions here, give pin number, pin description and condition on and off, demonstration in signature below.
