    Vizio vo42l No picture

Hi Everyone, I have a Vizio vo42l with no picture and no sound " i think " just trying to figure out which board to swap out.
The vizio logo is white and will stay white until power button is pressed then turns amber.

stand by is 5v and P-ON is 3.5v. p-on is always at 3.5v untill power button is pressed then p-on drops to 0 " vizio logo turns amber " the jumps right back to 3.5v vizio logo still amber.
this is the only time p-on drops to 0 and then its brief.. like one second. the 12v and 24v output from the power board is always 0. I am no expert just trying to figure out if the power or mainboard is at fault.

unfortunately im not near the Tv, so no pictures, thank you.

May have to disconnect cable from main board and jump ps_on to ground through about 600ohm resistor and see if other voltages come up
I assume no responsibility for any stupid suggestions I might post.

Thanks for the reply! will try this in the morning. I am having a hard time with the colors. I think this is 600ohm tests 0.66 on MM adding a picture, maybe someone with better eyes can tell.

will it need to be grounded to board? or chassis?

      thank you

If you disconnect cable at main board side you can insert leads into connector. There should be a ground on one or more of the wires
I assume no responsibility for any stupid suggestions I might post.

"stand by is 5v and P-ON is 3.5v. p-on is always at 3.5v untill power button is pressed then p-on drops to 0 " vizio logo turns amber " To me that PS-ON is active HIGH, not active low. I have never seen Vizio LCD TV uses active low for PS-ON.
The two fuses on the main board are good?
Also try disconnecting the inverter boards from the power supply board to see if the 12V/24V will come up.
There are more than one version of this TV model.

Sorry guys, this was a user error. With the TV off the multi meter reads 0.35
my meter don't level out to zero. When you turn the TV on it jumps up to 3.5v

I did ground it with the resistor. That didn't make any difference

Safe to assume there's an issue in the power supply?

I disconnected the inverter board it did not bring up the 12/24
Check the fuses on the main board . Top fuse 0.05 bottom 00.1 those are the actual readings on the multimeter. I Checked both ends of the fuses. Tested good for continuity

                  Re: Vizio vo42l No picture

At this point we need good clear pictures of the whole back side of the TV showing all the boards and good clear straight shot of the top and the bottom side of the power supply board.

After removing the power board there is obvious damage. Sorry about the quality of the pictures . I added a close-up of the damage . I will go ahead and order a new power board, I just hope it didn't take out anything else.

There was apparently a lightning strike near the house were this TV was at.

                        by Daveleone
Hi all! I've got a Vizio VO42L. Plug it in, and logo flashes orange/white for a bit, then solid orange. Press power, and logo changes to white. There is no backlight.
From reading some of the posts here I thought the inverter could have been the problem, but I've replaced it and still have the same issue. I noted that shining a flashlight on the screen shows nothing, so now I'm thinking main board?

I took the following readings with the TV powered on. I also tried taking the readings with the CFL connectors unplugged - no change.

                        Main board:

Vizio M65-C1 | Logo appears for 10 seconds then off
                        by Bob1394
I have used the search, and am stumped.

My Vizio M65-C1, Vizio logo appears for about 10 seconds then goes off.Power LED blinks 15 times then the TV powers down.

I have read through many threads on the M65-C1 including the following threads. I feel like I must be looking right past the solution to my problem:

Ok so here's the story. I was watching tv one day when all of a sudden I heard a pop from the back of the tv set and rushed to unplug the set. By this time the tv already had smoke coming out the back. It was not storming or inclement weather that day to cause a power surge to the best of my abilities. When I opened the tv up, I found that the three capacitors on the psu (highlighted in red) were all bulging and looked they had exploded. I replaced all of them right away and when I went to start up the tv after the "fix" it started just showing the flashing vizio logo as soon as power...

                        by x_orange90_x
I just got this tv today and it's getting stuck on the wallpaper. When I first power it on it goes to the V logo, then a black screen for about 15 seconds, then a Chromecast error for just a few seconds, and then finally to a wallpaper. It stays frozen on this wallpaper and does not respond to anything on the remote besides power on/off. Likewise the buttons on the tv do nothing either (besides power). I did the "reset" by holding the volume down and input buttons together for 10 seconds. It showed a message at the top of the screen saying it was Wiping Data and would restart soon. After...

                        by ggil44
Hi I inherited a Vizio M65-E0 that isn't working. It must have been dropped on the corner because I found that the infrared circuit had a capacitor with one end broken off of the board and some green corrosion around the plug to the main board. I re-soldered the capacitor and cleaned the corrosion well and tried turning the M65-E0 on and I was successful. My problem is that while the back lights come on and appear to perform local dimming there is no picture or sound. It kind of looks like you are looking at the TV through a very dense fog, where changing the input on the remote will change bright...
