The -VLED is the return line for the LED string, you have Voltage feeding the +VLED but nothing is coming out on the return side.
You can try new power supply if you want but make sure it can be returned if it does not fix the backlights problem.
Taking 50" panel apart is the last thing you will want to try that why we should try to test the LED string by using external tester.
These look to what are being used in your panel but not 100% sure because they make more than one version of the panel.

You were right budm, the power supply didn't fix the backlight issue. I guess I'll be sending this one back and taking this tv to the dump. Thanks alot for all of your help. I saw in one of the videos that you sent me that you could cut the bottom off of a low wattage cfl and use it to test the power supply output to the panel. Should I try that to see if it truly is an open circuit in the led string?

please don't take it to land fill. put it ebay, buy swap sell etc, someone will be able to fix it or use it for parts. you already know that it is an led issue, so you can pass on the information.

I won't take it to the landfill. I might buy a back-light tester and try to fix the led strips myself. It's cheaper than a new tv and I don't really have anything to lose. If I can't fix it I will sell it for repair or parts. Thanks again for everybody's help.

Re: Sharp LC-50LB261U - has audio, no picture

I had the same problem. I also replaced the power supply. It didn't fix the problem. Still have audio and still don't have video. I can see background video when I shine a flashlight on it. I don't have a back light tester, or even a voltage meter. I also replaced the function keyboard and the wires that attach to it. I did this because when I removed the screws on the back panel and went to pull it up, I broke one of the cables to the function key board. If you are working on this TV, be sure to remove the function key board (little strip that has the power button, volume buttons, channel buttons, and input button) before pulling the back panel off of the tv. The cable is pretty thin. I don't think I'm going to try to replace the LED strips unless people think it's pretty easy to do and it's pretty likely to solve the issue. I think I'm just going to get another TV, which is pretty disappointing, since this one is less than 3 years old.

Replacing the led strips is NOT easy to do but it WILL likely fix your problem. Follow budm's troubleshooting advice to be certain the leds are at fault.

Does anyone know what LED's they are individually to replace? 3528's? I have 4 of them out that I tested with the SID LED and backlight tester. Hoping to be able to simply replace those to get it working again.

This is my TV and I have almost the same problem. My problem is it turns on and I have a picture for about 15 minutes then the screen just goes black. TV stays on but I cannot tell if it responds to remote or buttons except for turning power off. Sometimes I do have to unplug it. If I leave it unplugged for two or three weeks it will turn back on and I have to start setting it back up through the menu. Just about the time I get it setup it goes out again. I have it opened up and I took the power board out looking for some type of visual problem like the bulging capacitors I read about but I don't see anything like that. What are your thoughts please for a newbie?

Hi, this is my personal laptop, which the original board (lets call it Board A) blew up PU8700 (TPS51486), making a hole on the board, i had left the laptop at my desk one day with the battery fully charged and didn't touch it for a week, but when i tried to turn it on it didn't

                      Hello Sharp TV experts
Our Sharp LC-80LE642U displays one short one long flash error code which is a backlight error. I went into service mode and there were 8 lamp error counts recorded. I reset the count to 0 and did a reset. The last monitor error cause was 16 B00014639:12. 16 is the code for backlight error. I tried to power the tv up but went back into error mode.

                      by ermals
                      Hi all!
I've recently run into an issue with my Samsung UN55H8000AF LED TV displaying no image. I've done quite a bit of research in terms of what could be wrong with it. Below are the steps I've taken prior to reaching out here for some assistance:

                      1. I've tried replacing the T-Con board (BN95-01594A), twice and have still experienced the same issue with all the boards I've tested with.
                      2. I've tried to remove one side of the ribbon cable that goes from the T-Con board to the panel and still not getting any image on left or right side.
                      3. I've checked voltages...

                      by Tynan Dill
I was given this TV from my great uncle. He said it just wouldn't turn on one day out of nowhere, replaced the TV, and gave it to me to possibly fix and use for myself.

Upon bringing it home and plugging it up, it showed a standby light.

I powered it on and without a flashlight, the display showed the "V" but the lighting is very dim, but visible.

The screen seems to blackout and stay black, but with a flashlight I can see the display.

With my Playstation 4 connected via HDMI, and running a game I can hear sound.

                      Assuming...

un60j620dafxza - Samsung No Display Problem
                      by stylishconsultant
                      Hi All,

                      Need help.

I have a samsung un60j620dafxza led tv. When I plug it in it has no display, no sounds, and no standby lights.

So I opened the tv and disconnected the power to the mainboard and the backlight powered up. This according to many people says that this is a mainboard
problem. I checked the voltage coming from the stb and I read 1.3 volts on pins 1,3,5 and 7 which are low volts instead of 13 volts which i think the lcd panel
might be drawing too much power from the power supply that it prevents the right voltage going to the mainboard....
