Vizio E552VL turns on, freezes on on-screen vizio logo.

a friend of mine got this tv because it freezes at the vizio logo screen. the motherboard is not available at SJ or ebay. and the only repair kit i can find on ebay says it addresses the problem of the vizio logo lighting up but no picture or sound. this is not the same problem so im hesitant to spend 30$ and replace components on a gamble. has anyone seen this problem before?
can you help me track down whats wrong on this motherboard and replace the components?
    thank you

I assume the 'repair kit' is basically a new eeprom. If so, then that will almost certainly fix the issue. Every vizio I've seen from that era that gets stuck on the logo screen had an eeprom issue.

And you can also try the Eeprom pin 5 and 6 momentary short at switch on if money tight.

You can try unplugging wifi if equipped. I didn't see eeproms for this model but may have missed
I assume no responsibility for any stupid suggestions I might post.

Double check the surface mount capacitors around the HDMI chip. If those are shorted, then you have a bad HDMI chip and those can sometimes cause weird symptoms as the ones you are experiencing. If the caps are fine, then remove the heat sink from the BGA chip and heat it up with hot air for 20 seconds at 400 degrees celsius, let it sit for 5 to 10 seconds and then power on the set. If that doesn't do it, let it cool off for 20 minutes, then freeze it and then plug in the set and try to turn it on. One of those should take care of your issue temporarily. If it does then you need to rework your BGA chip. That's where my money is.
