Sony KDL-32L4000 bad t-con or panel?

I've got a KDL-32L4000 that displays this weird image (see photo). Sorry about the picture quality, was holding the TV with one hand and taking a photo with my smartphone in the other.

About the third of the screen is sharp and static, the rest is moving like it's being refreshed constantly one over the other sort of like a ghost.

Is there a way to find the culprit without actually replacing the t-con as I'd have to order one.

Looks like maybe panel problem. May try flexing panel and see if any change
I assume no responsibility for any stupid suggestions I might post.

To flex it properly, I'd have to remove it from the bezel. Tried flexing it while still inside the TV frame with no results.

I'll see, if I can make a video of the problem and post it on YT.

        +1 for panel.

you can confirm by opening the back, disconnecting one side of the t-con that connects to the panel. powering the set up and checking picture, then repeat for the opposing side.

If I remove the flat cable, there's no picture, only the backlight is on.

the ribbon that goes to the panel? not the lvds that goes from the main board to the t-con.

is there 1 or 2 cables?

There's just one flat cable that goes from the t-con to the LCD so I can't really do what you suggested.

                well, that ruined that idea.

i'm still looking at panel. if you want to pull it down to the panel and apply pressure to the tab bonds to see if it is causing the fault, then it is your call. nothing to lose in my opinion though.

Ah well, it's not very likely that I'll be finding a compatible panel any time soon. I'll just use it for parts. Cheers guys.

Hard to tell by the pic., you could try a firmware update, might work, sometimes the firmware gets buggered up. Tcon boards are readily available and usually pretty reasonable in price.

                        by rimwall
Hi, hoping for some views on this one which I've not come across before. The TV generates an image that has 12 noticeable bands across it. The image is still there and accurate, but the colour (or perhaps the brightness) changes gradually across each band which creates a noticeable 'step change' at the edge of each band. Given it's a 4K TV with 2160 rows of pixels, I'm guessing the 12 bands correspond to 12 gate drivers of 180 rows each. If this guess is right, then perhaps:
                        a) all the gate drivers are malfunctioning the same way (which seems unlikely), or
                        b) the Tcon board is malfunctioning,...

Sony KD-65A1 Repair – 4 Red Blinks Error
                        by AK_777
                        Hi everyone!
I have a Sony KD-65A1 TV with a fault – 4 red LED blinks. After disassembly and visual inspection, I found that the G76 power board and DKA board had been replaced. It is also possible that TCON was replaced, but I am not sure – there are a few marker marks that could be factory-made.

Based on assumptions, the previous service attempted to solve the issue by replacing potentially faulty components. I decided to investigate further, found a service manual, and figured out a way to power up the power supply unit autonomously and put the OLED panel and...

Just bought this for 10 bucks yesterday hoping to fix it. The guy said water dropped inside from a dehumidifier hose and it started showing black and white vertical bars then went blank. When I got it home and turned it on it came on fine and displayed correctly but I was noticing faint vertical bars in the image. After a little bit I turned it off and back on and it was a black screen again. I opened it up to check for water damage and corrosion but didn't find anything of the sort. I cleaned the ribbons anyway and reconnected them but still got a blank screen. If I disconnect the right side...

Sony KD-70X690E Bravia; Bad TCON? Bad panel?
                        by swrb898
What's wrong with my TV: the TCON, the panel, or something else? I'm stuck.

                        Problem:

Last week, my Sony KD-70X690E 70" stopped displaying a picture. The TV powers on, and the back lights power on. However, the TV doesn't seem to boot up. I say this because the SONY splash-screen logo does not display, nor does any picture display, nor can I invoke a menu by pressing "Menu" on the remote. Other than back-light bleed, the screen is black.

My troubleshooting got me this far:

With the left-hand TCON to bottom-board ribbon cable...

Driving a Sharp TCON/panel with a universal main board
                        by advant
This thread is about trying to get an Universal Main Board to work with a Sharp TCON and panel.

I have a Sharp LC-46D85UN TV that has had a main board issue. Since this model is from 2009, I am not able to find an exact replacement of the main board. Instead, I decided to see if I can future proof this tv by getting a Universal Main Board (T53U21.2) from China to work with the Sharp TCON (CPWBX4291TPZA) and panel. The universal main board supports a 8 bit dual channel LVDS interface whereas the TCON requires a 10 bit dual channel LVDS input. I have modded the LVDS connector to match...
