Re: Post help identifying capacitors here
I need help identifying this polymer. The text says:
LF
470
C
454
I bought these new but can't find the specs in the mail. I know it's 470 uF but what voltage?
EDIT: just figured it out.. Nichion LF series, rated at 16V
Thanks

Re: Samsung 2493HM repair
Small update: I pulled apart the second monitor without prior testing (stupid, I know). Visual inspection revealed no damage to the power supply and the fuses were okay. I installed the power supply in the first monitor and everything works. I should probably disassemble the monitor again and recap the psu just in case. These are known to have bad caps.
It wouldn't hurt to test the monitor from which I pulled the working power supply as well. Maybe it wasn't defective in the first place.
This still leaves me with one power supply...

Samsung 2493HM repair
A couple of days ago I bought two broken Samsung 2493HM monitors that wouldn't turn on. I risked 40€ and bought them, hoping for a quick fix. I cracked open the first one and found several burnt components and at least one destroyed soldering pad (see pictures). The underside is also strangely dirty - corrosion? Judging by the pictures, should I even attempt to repair this and where should I begin?
Thanks,
SainT...

Failing Dell 525W power supply question
Hi,
I have a failing Dell power supply (from a Dell Precision T3400 desktop PC) with one confirmed (visibly bulging) bad capacitor marked 3300uF 16V LZP. All the other caps are Rubycon, this one is the only one that's not. Anyway, here's a potentially stupid question. Can I replace it with a 2200uF 16V low ESR cap? I know that in general this isn't recommended but if it's just a filtering cap, it could work? I can't provide a proper photo of the board because it's all cramped up and hard to get a good angle. If you guys think it might help, I can do my best to take some photos anyway....Last edited by Half-Saint; 05-12-2020, 02:18 PM.

Re: HP EliteOne G1 video issue
True but what puzzled me was the fact that it refused to boot without the card....

Re: HP EliteOne G1 video issue
Quick update:
the heat gun trick worked and the computer is back in working order for now. I didn't use any flux so I'm not sure how long this will work but at least I know that the video card was definitely the culprit.

Re: HP EliteOne G1 video issue
By "chip crystal" do you mean the core? I just did a heating session on 220C and waiting for it to cool so that I can test it....

Re: HP EliteOne G1 video issue
I have seen several different techniques for this. I have aluminum tape and I have a hot air station but I haven't used it much. What temperature and fan speed should I set the station to for optimal results? What nozzle width? Some people use a very wide nozzle while the others use narrow (about 1 cm).
EDIT : I tried resetting the CMOS but it made no difference.

Re: HP EliteOne G1 video issue
I can't access the BIOS as I don't get anything on screen anymore. Should have tried while it still worked
I'll try to bake the card in the oven, maybe that will make it work long enough for me to be able to enter BIOS and disable the card....

HP EliteOne G1 video issue
I recently aquired a HP EliteOne G1 all in one computer. I tested it and got the result you see in the attached image. Since the computer (according to the specs) has both: a Radeon HD7650A MXM video card and integrated video, I naturally assumed it should work without the MXM card.
However, it didn't work! Instead, I got a white screen followed by alternating red-green-blue screens. This goes on indefinitely.
I tried to put the MXM card back but now I don't get anything on the screen. The computer turns on as usual, I hear one beep but the screen remains blank.

Re: IEC socket w/ caps replacement
I'd really like to get this fixed. Don't know much about those filters. How important is it to have matching values?

It's a Commodore 1571 floppy disk drive :-)

Re: IEC socket w/ caps replacement
Lots of stinky grey smoke. It went off immediately after I plugged in the power cable. Main fuse is okay. The socket blew on the underside causing the DIN serial connector and the plastic around it to go black. By looking at the text on the socket I see it's actually different than the one in the first post.
See photos in attachment.
Could I go without the filtering caps in the socket?...Last edited by Half-Saint; 05-11-2018, 12:42 AM.

Re: IEC socket w/ caps replacement
I don't know what caps they are, they're sealed inside the casing.

Re: IEC socket w/ caps replacement
Because the caps in mine blew up. It's not the exact model pictured but an equivalent....

IEC socket w/ caps replacement
Hi,
I need a bit of help. I'd like to replace a power socket with built-in filtering caps. I've been told that I could go without it because there are filters in the PSU itself but not sure I want to go there. What do you guys think?
Anyway, the original was the same spec as the attached pic. Locally I can get this YB06T1 (see attachment). Would this be a good match?
How about this one from Farnell? Re: Sony KDL-32L4000 bad t-con or panel?
Ah well, it's not very likely that I'll be finding a compatible panel any time soon. I'll just use it for parts. Cheers guys.

Re: Sony KDL-32L4000 bad t-con or panel?
There's just one flat cable that goes from the t-con to the LCD so I can't really do what you suggested.
