Hey guys this might be a stupid question but I want to know if it's even possible before attempting... I have two exact tv boards they both are not working. One has two bad popped capacitors and I don't know what's wrong with the other one. My question is can I cut at the curve ( see pictures) the two capacitors that are good on one board and cut out the ones that are bad leaving the two legs and Solder it to make them "like new" capacitors. I know it might sound confusing it's just if I remove the soldered legs won't be long enough so I am trying I use the good capacitors into the old capacitor legs ... I am attaching a picture

Re: Board capacitors
So you wouldn't recommend removing them from the old board even if they are the same ??Comment

Re: Board capacitors
No problem, Lord only knows how many times "auto-correct" has changed my wording.
Sure you could cut the leads, but if they are the same exact boards and the caps are the exact same value, why not just de-solder both pair and solder in the "good" caps in place of the "popped" ones?Comment

Re: Board capacitors
If you cut the caps at the bend and try to resolder, the lead sticking up might drop down through the hole once you heat it up making it even more difficult. Easier to remove the cap by pulling up on the body while heating the bottom pad. Be careful not to splash solder into your eyes. Though swapping caps from another board may seem like a quick test, the more you remove and replace parts, the more likely you are to cause damage. Better to just order and replace with new caps from Digikey.Last edited by neilc6; 07-09-2017, 06:32 PM.Comment

Vizio e601i-A3 - Has Sound and Display, But No Backlight - Bad Power Supply Board or Bad LED Bulbs ?by Tynan DillI was given this TV from my great uncle. He said it just wouldn't turn on one day out of nowhere, replaced the TV, and gave it to me to possibly fix and use for myself.
Upon bringing it home and plugging it up, it showed a standby light.
I powered it on and without a flashlight, the display showed the "V" but the lighting is very dim, but visible.
The screen seems to blackout and stay black, but with a flashlight I can see the display.
With my Playstation 4 connected via HDMI, and running a game I can hear sound.

by sam_sam_samI did not have any 27uf @ 50 volt capacitors but one nice thing is that it has enough room for two capacitors in parallel a 22uf and a 4.7uf @ 50 volts 22 plus 4.7 equals 26.7uf which so very close to 27uf I will show some pictures of it sometime tomorrow
This is one of the shit est boards I seen in a very long time and it was the daughter board the traces just lifting off the board I had to use the capacitor leads to repair the the traces and the main board is not any better because I had to repair several traces for the daughter board to the main board

by m1ch43lzmHi, this is my personal laptop, which the original board (lets call it Board A) blew up PU8700 (TPS51486), making a hole on the board, i had left the laptop at my desk one day with the battery fully charged and didn't touch it for a week, but when i tried to turn it on it didn't
Thought the battery was dead, so i plugged in the charger then tried to power on, the power LED blinked once, charged LED still orange, unplugged the charger, plugged in again and I noticed the "magic smoke" smell, so i unplugged the charger, removed the back cover and saw the blown IC (the "magic... -
Hi all! I'm a newbie to to the forum and electronics repair in general.
I picked up a nonfunctional ASRock Taichi X570 motherboard that someone threw away. My main goal is it to repair and use it. But even if it's not possible, I'd like to learn about the process.
I'd very much appreciate some guidance.
Here are the steps I've taken to diagnose the board:
I first tried powering the board without a CPU or memory. The lights turned on. As you'd expect, the board wouldn't boot.
Hoping the board worked, I bought a compatible CPU on amazon. I wanted... -
by HakuuHi There,
This TV was auto switching off after few seconds with some vertical lines on the screen, so got a new TCON board and replaced it.
After replacing the TCON board it was working fine and i set it up with everything, used for few hours, then had the bright idea to update the software on it. During the update process, TV switched off and now no audio or video. No relay switch sound.
