Failed HV transformer on VIT7101 inverter (Beko TV)

Good day folks. I'm in the process of (hopefully) repairing this TV, so I thought I'd do something different for a change and post "as I go", instead of asking for help before starting or posting my results AFTER I've finished. The TV would come on normally, but the backlight would cut out after a few seconds.
This particular TV is called Beko, though I've seen the exact same chassis and components under a different brand name, so it may apply to other TVs as well. The inverter says VIT7101 on it, followed by a bunch of other numbers, so I took a picture of that, instead of writing it all down

I took the back off to take some measurements - you know, the usual stuff, make sure the inverter gets power and an ON signal, bla bla - and as I was doing this, shortly after power-up, I suddenly noticed this massive flash coming from the inverter side (it was like an arc welder). This flash also coincided with the moment the backlight went off, so I knew I was dealing with a failed transformer/PCB track somewhere.
I powered the TV again and this time paid close attention to the inverter: sure enough, one of the HV transformers was emitting a very bright light from underneath - T203 in my case. I marked it, removed it and immediately noticed the insulation on the bottom was indeed melted and the secondary winding had some charring on in - none of this was visible from the top side, so I could've examined it all I wanted, I would NOT have found the issue from the "outside". Bingo. I'm now waiting for a replacement to arrive, so in the meantime I thought I'd post my findings. Hopefully nothing else breaks down afterwards

No...it might've fallen out when I opened it.

Replaced the transformer and the TV is good as new.....yeah I know it's been a long while since I last updated this thread, but I thought I'd let you know it was a happy end

Thanks for the follow-up but keep an eye on it since bad lamp will draw lots of current and causes the winding to burn up. You may want to compare the temperature of the transformers.

Can't a HV transformer burn out "naturally" on its own, without the failure being caused by the lamp ?

Sure if the coating has broken down and cause shorted turn, or overloaded and caused the wire to burn up, but one way to find if there is problem is to check the temperature, if it is a lot hotter then you know what that means.

I actually had this issue with another TV recently: just like with this one, the outputs of 2 transformers were in series to run a single lamp, however only one of the transformers was significantly hotter than the other for some reason - either that particular transformer was failing or the lamp caused uneven load. There was also a dead lamp towards the top of the screen (darker shade there) so both of its transformers were stone cold - had to bypass the timer capacitor to get the thing to stay on, at least until the rest of the "bulbs" burn out.

                      Original Xbox 1.0 PSU: Foxlink FTPS-0002 Rev. B. — 12 V low, 5 V high — transformer?
                      by ohren
                      Hello!

I'm looking at an original Xbox PSU: Foxlink ftps-0002 rev. B. The 12 V output is too low, and the 5 V output is too (?) high. Unfortunately I don't have an oscilloscope but only a DMM for diagnosis.

                      Measured voltages with no load:

                      After rectifier diodes
                      12V: 6.17 V
                      5V: 5.67 V

Secondary transformer pins AC measurement (really don't know if this says anything)
                      12V: 2-2.5 V
                      5V: 1.04 V

I also have another (working) Xbox psu from Delta. The same measures there, in order, being: 10.79,...

Is it possible for transformer substitution?
                      by mikey5791
                      Hi all,
Got this local made DC power supply (12/14V) given free as the transformer has melted. There is no marking or indication to identify what type or rating of transformer used.
Fyi,. I had a busted autogate mainboard with transformer with marking 13-0-13 . Is this the 13v dc type transformer?
                      My questions are
                      1. How do i test to see if the transformer is in good working condition?
                      2. Can this transformer (marking 13-0-13) be used to replace the melted transformer on the DC power supply?
Hope you guys understand what i was asking. My intention is...

Vizio E55-E1 bad backlights or bad inverter?
                      by x_orange90_x
I just got this tv today and it appeared to have no backlight on. After taking off the rear cover and checking again in the dark I can see that MAYBE one quadrant is lit.. But still it's quite dim. I was going to check the LEDs with my tester, and I found LED 1 and LED 2 + pins on the wire from the inverter, but I couldn't identify a ground. Nonetheless I tried using a mounting screw on the inverter board and also the chassis as ground but regardless my tester reads 300 which is what it reads when there is no voltage draw.

I don't know how exactly to test the inverter itself. Is it...
