    Panasonic 65" VT20 10 blink code

I've picked up a faulty 65" VT20 on the weekend.
The TV doesnt turn on and emits the 10 blink code when connected.

I've opened this TV up and had a look for anything obvious. There is nothing visually obvious to see.
On initial connection I after its first attempt at powering up I've noticed a noise coming from a section of the powersupply. It seems to be coming from one of the transformers. Its kind of a buzzing noise. I've measured standby voltage of 5v and confirmed that is coming through ok to the A board.

Using the switch on the A board you hear the relays kick in and the buzzing noise at the transformer changes to a higher pitch. I can confirm that the 15V is output on the pins on the PSU. I havent checked what happens to it when it gets to the A board as it is only visible on the meter for about 2-3 seconds.

The leds on the SS and SC boards come on while this happens and then gradually discharge when the startup attempt fails.

Another test I've tried was removing all PSU connections to boards other than the A board. I've taken off the D board connectors from the A board too. The same thing occurs at attempted power up and the same 10 blink code is displayed.

So from this I'd assume that the problem is either the A board or the PSU. The only reason I'd guess the PSU is the noises that it emits from the transformer or components near the transformer sound a bit suspect to me.

Any guidance from anyone on what to check?

I've attempted to record the sounds heard when using the power button on the A board to turn the TV off/on.

    Re: Panasonic 65" VT20 10 blink code

Sorry if it feels like I'm being a pain asking for help with 2 tv's at once. (I have another thread with the arcing 50" VT20 tv.)

I was hoping that if I got the 65" going I could test frame on it to compare to the 50" I'm having problems with...

Also wondering can I test the a 50" VT20 A board in this 65" tv if the connectors line up? I realise that the ports probably wont line up with the back of the TV and its not meant to be a permanent swap. I just thought IF it could help diagnose a problem with the PSU or A board of this TV it might help me fix the problem.

I've managed to find a better flow chart for diagnosing this problem. I'll follow the correct procedure and report back. I dont want to waste anyone's time.

        Re: Panasonic 65" VT20 10 blink code

OK. So I've tested the TV with the D5 and D3 connectors disconnected.
The tv starts up with a white screen.
I therefore assume that I have a bad A board.

So does anyone have any pointers on where to start on the A board in fixing this?

Took a punt and tried switching the A board from my 50" VT20A.
It turned on and had a display!
Didnt leave it on for very long as I didnt want to kill the board just in case.

Now to repairing the A board from this 65".

If anyones done this before I'd love to know what was wrong with theirs!

What board numbers are the A board for the 50 and the 65 and or photos please.

I know a few tricks. I recently had a 54V20. Blown SC and then found the A board also defective. Board number was different to the 50" which I had 2 spare. Upon closer inspection I discovered the boards were effectively the same except for a ver small difference in assembly on a filter requiring a different PCB pattern.

I converted the 50" board into the 54', hey presto up and running.

So obviously your about to ditch the 50 and try and fix the 65. Nice upgrade, bloody huge TV if you can pull it off.

Good news, they're both TNPH0844 boards. For sure chuck your 50" A board in and confirm it's A board.

Then I can give some tips?

Or spend $250 for a used A board

Must have just posted this before I saw it. Do you want to fix it or do you want to scrap that arcing 50"?

Well I've got a couple more things I'm trying on that thing to fix it still before I scrap it.

I wasnt sure if anyone had replaced a failed IC on the A board to make it work or one of the other million parts on it.

If the go is to just buy an A board I'm happy to do that but I havent found an Australia version of it yet on ebay? Got any pointers for that otherwise?

It's a tough gig. Try getting a manual and fault find. There's a number of voltages monitored that can trigger 10 blinks.

You don't need exacty manual just any of the VT series would do.

                    http://www.mxmee.com.au/index.php?ro...acturer_id=335

I hate to say it but I think his pricing is extortion but this is what happens when parts are obsolete and this is stated as New, never used. You can of course check this n the service menu.
I've had boards from a New Zealand who also liked stating they were new and both had 1000's of hrs clocked.

I just posted on another 10 blink A-board thread as I was just wonderin what I'd come across and fixed.

Shorted or damaged SD card slot on the A board. Kids or even adults can stick foreign objects or inserting the wrong way may do the same.

I had one, 10 blinks, 3.3v shorted and was bent pins in that SD slot.

It's free to look so check it, you never never know what you find sometimes.

You can convert any TNPH0844 to suit this size TV so even lok for another 50VT20, smashed screen , whatever but they're fairly scarce to find these days.

There's a nice 50" 2D V20 in Cannington. Should just need the SC board going by the description.

Takes the fun out of fixing them as nobody really seems keen to buy a plasma around here these days. I loved my 50" and thats how this started but they just have no resale value and I dont need heaps of TV's either.

Yeah I think what they do is google the fault. I've posted so much stuff that they'll get a lot of good info that way. Work out it's SC, guess what the TV is worth then take the price of an SC off that.

To fix and sell, no margin there. I paid a $100 for mine but it was 18 months old at the time. Most I've paid is a $100 and the only other was a 50VT30 as it's the top of the line in that series and rare. I've kept the GT340, VT30 plus my original V20(sentimental, first ever decent model I fixed) and a ST30 for a spare.

                                  Someone mentioned OCD
Yeah I love LED, lose one or two LEDs in a string and bye bye $1000 TV.

Generally the plasma panel is pretty robust and most of the issues are SC boards.

I never said the V20 board will work. I said there's a nice V20 needing most likely a SC board!

I was given this TV from my great uncle. He said it just wouldn't turn on one day out of nowhere, replaced the TV, and gave it to me to possibly fix and use for myself.

Upon bringing it home and plugging it up, it showed a standby light.

I powered it on and without a flashlight, the display showed the "V" but the lighting is very dim, but visible.

The screen seems to blackout and stay black, but with a flashlight I can see the display.

With my Playstation 4 connected via HDMI, and running a game I can hear sound.

                                          Assuming...

Hi, this is my personal laptop, which the original board (lets call it Board A) blew up PU8700 (TPS51486), making a hole on the board, i had left the laptop at my desk one day with the battery fully charged and didn't touch it for a week, but when i tried to turn it on it didn't
Thought the battery was dead, so i plugged in the charger then tried to power on, the power LED blinked once, charged LED still orange, unplugged the charger, plugged in again and I noticed the "magic smoke" smell, so i unplugged the charger, removed the back cover and saw the blown IC (the "magic...

I did not have any 27uf @ 50 volt capacitors but one nice thing is that it has enough room for two capacitors in parallel a 22uf and a 4.7uf @ 50 volts 22 plus 4.7 equals 26.7uf which so very close to 27uf I will show some pictures of it sometime tomorrow

This is one of the shit est boards I seen in a very long time and it was the daughter board the traces just lifting off the board I had to use the capacitor leads to repair the the traces and the main board is not any better because I had to repair several traces for the daughter board to the main board

                                          After all of...

Panasonic TC-P54VT25 No image. A or D board?

I have a Panasonic TC-P54VT25 that will power on and prime the display but there is no image at all.

The panel is primed as there is a slight glow from the entire panel. This means the problem should be logic related. The service manual also confirms this and recommends replacing the A or the D board.

I have tried to get the TV to display the test sequence but I have been unable to and I don't even know if this TV has a test sequence or not. I tried following tom66's instructions in post #3 on this thread https://www.badcaps.net/forum/showthread.php?t=26790. There was...

Hello Friends, i am having this model Panasonic TH-L32C30D, suddenly when i switch on, it went on One Blink, after looking at the service manual it says Backlight_SOS, I can see the menu on the tv screen for few seconds in the dark with the help of flashlight Before it goes into blinking cycle.
I was having a backup P-Board which i replaced it and now its working fine, but i need to repair my faulty P-Board, as now its getting dificult to find any type of spares of this model, so can any friend who is master in Panasonic Repair, be kind enough to guide me or tell me which component should...
