Sharp LC-60le600u

So I bought this TV off of craigslist. The guy told me it had a border LED problem. So after a couple hours of checking voltages and trying the input/vol- reset, I can get it to power up but only if the LED's are unplugged. I can see snow when I shine a flashlight on the screen. When I plug the LED's back in to the power supply, the led's flash for a second then the whole thing shuts down. Have any of you ran in to this before? Is this a shorted LED strip?

Should the led's be flickering or a constant brightness?

the leds are basically in series. The system monitors how much current is being drawn and shuts things down rapidly IF it detects an "unusual condition". There is some "sub components" (a diode) that may allow for partially current flow past a bad component.

The led's do flicker through pulse width modulation, but you will not see them pulse. One or more led's failed and would have to be replaced to repair tv. Not that hard but a delicate job to get panel off without breaking.

Ok, I found multiple problems. The connector on the power board had a couple solder joints that were bad. One had almost no solder. I repaired both of those. Now the LED's come on blindingly bright. But, there is one bad LED. Can I simply jump around it? Should I remove it? Do you know of any videos of how to do it?

You can replace bad led or replace with zener diode. Many videos on youtube. Norcal715 has one were he replaced with zener diode on edgelit. Don't jumper around it.

whatever you do, just don't jumper it. That will make the other LED's in the strip go poof after a while.

Well, I jumped the LED just to see if it would work. It did. So now this is what I have. If I can fix this without spending a ton of money, I'll install a diode.

Is this caused by a bad T-Con board?

If you took panel apart reset ribbon connectors. Or you possibly damaged a tab bond to panel.

Yeah there is damage on the panel bottom.

I have the same model with exact same issue. Do you know the part # for the LED bars? I rather order new LEDs but prefer not to take the TV apart until the parts arrive.
