That's interesting. I would think part of the screen wouldn't work if you did that....

I wonder how that hole happened. A manufacturing defect? What kind of voltage is on those?...

Dammit. Has a hole burned in it. Add another to the scrap pile....

Re: Samsung UN46D6000SFXZA fades to black
I don't think the boards got wet but I can see some oxidation on the chassis and tab on that side. Definitely had some liquid there....

I don't know the history of the Tv, I picked it up for cheap on marketplace. There doesn't appear to be any liquid damage....

Re: Samsung UN46D6000SFXZA fades to black
If I disconnect the ribbon cable coming out of the tcon that feeds the right side of the screen, the left side comes on and works fine.

Re: Mitsubishi LT-46149 error code 41
I re-flowed every one that looked even slightly suspicious. Didn't help.
When I disconnect the sound board from the main board. It gives me code 12 which is "normal off" "no problem detected".
I ordered a refurb main board. Hope that fixes it....

Re: LG 42LV5500 LED Edge lit...no picture, sound or backlights
I know this is an old thread but I wanted to add that I did the same thing with my wife's hair dryer. According to my thermal gun I got it up to 210. I had the heat on high, the fan on low and used the turbo function. The TV is working perfectly now. But who knows for how long.

You can see where the liquid ran down the chassis....

Vizio E48u-D0
I picked up this tv for next to nothing today. Everything seems to work good except the backlight. It flashes on and off repeatedly until I pull up the menu, then it’s fine. I’ve noticed the SmartCast app on my iPhone allows me to adjust the backlight. I figured out as long as I keep it lower than 60 it seems to work perfectly. If I go past 60 the flashing starts again. I updated to the latest firmware hoping that would fix it but obviously it didn’t. I also noticed what appears to be dried syrup from a spilled drink on the power supply. I cleaned it up as best as I could but...Last edited by bartstop; 06-01-2019, 12:23 AM.

Re: Sharp LC-60le600u
Well, I jumped the LED just to see if it would work. It did. So now this is what I have. If I can fix this without spending a ton of money, I'll install a diode....

Re: Sharp LC-60le600u
Ok, I found multiple problems. The connector on the power board had a couple solder joints that were bad. One had almost no solder. I repaired both of those. Now the LED's come on blindingly bright. But, there is one bad LED. Can I simply jump around it? Should I remove it? Do you know of any videos of how to do it?

Re: Sharp LC-60le600u
Should the led's be flickering or a constant brightness?

Sharp LC-60le600u
So I bought this TV off of craigslist. The guy told me it had a border LED problem. So after a couple hours of checking voltages and trying the input/vol- reset, I can get it to power up but only if the LED's are unplugged. I can see snow when I shine a flashlight on the screen. When I plug the LED's back in to the power supply, the led's flash for a second then the whole thing shuts down. Have any of you ran in to this before? Is this a shorted LED strip?
