Vizio XVT3D554SV Orange Vizio light on powerup.

I had a friend give me his dead Vizio XVT3D554SV. When you turn it on, all you get is an Orange Vizio light, it never goes to white and shows nothing on the screen. I have taken the back off of it and on the inside, I see a PowerSupply Board, that goes to the center T-Board (I think that is what it is called,) and a Main Board (with all of the connectors (HDMI etc.). I have looked at it very closely to see if I could see any bubbled capacitors, smell, or burning and can't seem to find anything. I tested with a meter a couple of points on the board (by guessing without schematics), and it seems to be getting 5 volts. I have found one fuse and the fuse seems fine on the power supply board. Any idea on where to start or additional information needed?

First, please upload good clear pictures of the whole back side of the TV so we can see how all the boards are connected together, then the straight shot pictures of the power supply board and the main board.
You should look at the connector of the power supply board that goes to the main board, it should have labels to tell you what each pins are for so you can take the DCV reading of each pin to find out what are missing.

Yes that is my main board. I looked for everything I could see on the boards that had a F and tested with the meter on diode setting to make sure that it wasn't left open.

Just an update, I took off the boards to look underneath to see if I saw any burn marks, I saw some other posts where the board was burnt underneath. No luck.

              In addition,
I turned it on without any boards plugged in - I got no orange light on the vizio logo.
I plugged in with no main board and only T-Board - No Orange light.
I plugged in with main board and no T-Board - I received the orange vizio logo.

Not sure if any of that helps, but thought I would do some testing recommended in other threads. Also I talked to my friend that gave me the TV, he did say that one day he heard a couple of POPs and the TV turned off. He said he turned it back on and it worked for a couple of days and then went off again (no pops the second time). He turned it back on and it worked for about 30 minutes, then off again. This time it would only go to the orange vizio logo.

              Thanks in advance.

Meter Readings on the Power Supply Graphic with Info Attached -

I am getting 5.1 V where I should, but am getting no 12 V, Do I need to bridge pins or something for that?

The main board is not sending high signal the PS-ON (REMOTE ON/OFF) to CN202 pin 13 to turn on the rest of the power supply sections, and also the rest of the control signals are not sent from the main board.

Does that mean that it is a main board problem and that it needs replaced?

Main board or something is locking out the main board from sending the command signals.
You can try disconnecting the WIFI board to see first, then the remote IR board and see what happen, etc.

OK, I did the wifi board, power button, IR and bluetooth board (independently) and nothing changed. Trouble is finding a new main board, it seems like they are very sparse. I wonder if this is a common issue?

maybe worth trying a new eeprom/spi flash ic if they do one for this set and its a known issue with them maybe look on shopjimmy see what they say.

                          possible tcon issue?

I didn't see anything on shopjimmy. I am thinking the tcon is fine since I don't get the white logo and I can't read anything on the power supply even without the tcon board connected. If it is the main board, I haven't found anything wrong with it, but did find a company that will diagnose it for 25 dollars to see if it is working and if it is broken will fix it for 119.00 plus shipping. I guess if I send it to them and it isn't broken, I will be out 30 bucks but then can move down the tcon board route. I just wish I could find something wrong with it to know it is the problem.Thoughts?

When I disconnect the tcon board, I just disconnect the power to it from the powersupply and the cable that connects to the main board. Do i need to disconnect everything?

Nothing different. I plug in power and the orange vizio light stays orange. I then hit the power button and wait a second and nothing changes. I then hit the remote power button and nothing changes. On the powersupply, All 5 Volts read but the 12 volt has no reading.

does sound like a mainboard issue then i have just saw that repair service advertised for a 55 inch set its well worth spending the money in my opinion my only concern would be as you have not saw this tv working you have to consider lcd panel damage in transit etc have you checked the lcd with a torch etc and checked for any cracks etc as you dont want to waste money.

I haven't checked it. I helped my friend move his old one to my truck and then I carried it in myself. I assume checking by torch means holding a flashlight (for us US folks) up to it to see if there is any damage? I don't believe there is and have been gentle with it.
