Sharp Aquos LC-32LE244 TV stuck in standby (solid red LED)

Good day folks. As the title suggests, I've got this LC-32LE244 Aquos TV which doesn't turn on. The LED on the front is red and doesn't do anything AT ALL when I press the buttons or use the remote - it doesn't blink or turn green or anything. I think it's safe to say the main board is dead because the power supply works fine (I did the force-on test by connecting a low value resistor between "on" and 5Vsb and it fired up: all volts were OK, including the PFC which went up to 400v on the main cap as it should). Another thing I tried was heat up the board and then plug it in - no changes. I'm pretty sure it's going in the bin, but I thought I'd ask if anyone had similar issues and what they did to solve it...aside from getting a new board/TV of course

Haven't done a proper reflow with flux and stuff - just a quick blast over the whole board with the hot air station to see if it changes anything. I'll try it anyway and see if works - doubt it, but just as you said: nothing to lose at this point....really hate it when ICs don't have heatsinks on them. Don't know if it's true or not, but to me that seems like the no.1 reason for IC failure and a sign of dirt-cheap design. Even Vestel boards have a piece of metal over their ICs ! >_>

as it was a 32in i would of probably sourced another mainboard if cheap enough as it should sell on easy enough with a profit still.

I too had the same feeling from the very start, though somewhere deep inside, hope never dies with electronics
