Sharp LC-90LE657u Large LCD panel removal tips?

Does anyone have any general advice for removing a large 90" lcd panel to get at the led strips? One of freakaftr8 posts suggests that he started with the panel face up. Can this be done with the panel evenly supported and facing down and just removing the LED housing while leaving the lcd/diffusers/frame all in place?

    Thanks

Jeez that will be a fun job, best get the Led first so you can it out the way as fast as possible meaning less rick of screen damage. My advise have about 4 people to help get it out the way and rest it on something that is easy to pick the Lcd back up after but just be VERY careful. Also you got us any images matey would like to see inside a 90" set ?

      pLAstic sheeting under it
      and lifting like thaT
      or something similar
just 4 people lifting it without some thing to factor in balance will be hard.

I have done 70" screens using thick brown parcel rapping paper, slide it under the LCD from the non tab end, then with help lift using the paper to form a stretcher under the screen.

Yes, panel face down and lift the panel housing off the screen. Cover the screen and diffuser sheets with something (I use fresh garbage bags) until you are ready to reassemble.

Hi, thanks to everyone for the good ideas. I did not think of sliding a thin sheet of plastic or paper underneath to form a stretcher.

Hi, thanks for the suggestion. On the face down method, does the bezel remain in place? Can you provide any more detail on the face down method?

No idea on this tv never seen one but I suspect the bezel is hiding the screws to remove the inner frame. You'll be removing exactly what you would need to remove to do the job face up. And of course you'll need to be careful seating the light box on reassembly. Keep us posted.

Re: Sharp LC-90LE657u Large LCD panel removal tips?

Well yesterday I managed to get the LCD panel removed. After disassembling the unit, I determined that the "face down" method would not work as the unit was too heavy to be supported by the black plastic frame which centers/supports the LCD.

A suction cup jig was created as in the photo using some cheap HFT suction cups attached to some 1in aluminum slatwall extrusions and 1/2 lumber. The masking tape hooks were just used as a backup in the event one of the suction cups came loose. The screen did not flex as much as I originally thought. The measurements of the panel are 80"x46". Haven't got it back together yet, but it appears the culprit was a cold solder joint on one of the LEDs on the first/top row of LEDs.

                      Hi there,

This is my first post. I just wanted to come here to get a clear answer from some people about MDM removal on the 16 inch 2019 A2141 MBP & 15 inch 2018 MBP A1990. I have seen a lot of things on MDM removal, and wanted to know exactly what is needed to remove it, and what the best option is in 2024 when running Sonoma.

I know that Checkm8 have an MDM removal service now, that seems to be a permanent removal. I also have heard you can remove the T2 ROM and use a programmer to read the data and change the serial number. Im not 100 percent sure if this is a...

Driving a Sharp TCON/panel with a universal main board
                      by advant
This thread is about trying to get an Universal Main Board to work with a Sharp TCON and panel.

I have a Sharp LC-46D85UN TV that has had a main board issue. Since this model is from 2009, I am not able to find an exact replacement of the main board. Instead, I decided to see if I can future proof this tv by getting a Universal Main Board (T53U21.2) from China to work with the Sharp TCON (CPWBX4291TPZA) and panel. The universal main board supports a 8 bit dual channel LVDS interface whereas the TCON requires a 10 bit dual channel LVDS input. I have modded the LVDS connector to match...

Sharp Aquos Lc-80LE757U flashing Sharp on screen when plugged in
                      by sefoster
I have a Sharp Aquos LC-80LE757U that randomly made a loud popping noise when when watching TV one day. We found that the fuse blew and the thermistor. We ended up replacing the entire power supply board and have also replaced the TCON board. Now as soon as I plug the TV in it lights up and has the Sharp logo flashing on and off of the screen. If I unplug the ribbon cable from the TCON board to the main board I get the 2 long 5 short error code. Any ideas on where to go from here? We've tried resetting it but nothing has worked. If we plug it in and let it cycle through the flashing of the Sharp...

Hello, I'm new to this forum. I like to tinker with Sony electronics, I have been lucky trouble shooting sony stuff, But I can't find much info on this Sharp TV.

The problem; plug to power>white led power indicator light is on>it turns on to the red Sharp logo>
then the android logo is displayed, lit fine then the android logo brightness varies, then lit normal, then the tv restarts and does the same startup logos over and over for 5 times then it turns off and the power indicator light flashes the trouble code 3 long blinks plus 3 short blinks .
