cleaning board advice - paintbrush cause static?

I just received a replacement mainboard, seller advertised it as a bit dusty.

Its caked in old dust and covered in dead bugs, definitely not a state I want to power it on in.

I only have paintbrushes, I know these can cause static, what do you guys use to brush down boards. I know there are carbon bristle antistatic brushes but I dont have these yet.

    any advice welcome

I use a toothbrush and 99% alcohol. Never had a problem. So I think as long as your paint brush bristles are made out of nylon, it should be good.

        I've just read this -

The amount of static that builds up on your clothes depends on the material and how dry the atmosphere is. All fabrics have some tendency to build up a static charge, but synthetics like nylon, polyester and acrylic are particularly good at generating, and then holding on to, static charge.

I've also used toothbrushes in the past, in this case its quite a long bristle paintbrush that I will be using thoroughly over the entire board, both sides. Its a TV mainboard and not a power board so higher chance of static damage methinks.

Nylon can create static but I've never had a noticable problem using a toothbrush and alcohol.
Willing to help but I'm no expert.

Thats a fair few repairs reece and you havnt really been doing repairs/sales for long ? and even the best of use gets the odd repair return on us i guess maybe same fault or a different one but its how we deal with the customer that counts, like you say a lot of repairs is word of mouth etc so keeping a good reputation conts in the repair/sales game.

There are ESD-safe brushes for cleaning dust from boards - you just need to know where to buy them.

These go on ebay not many UK sellers with them.

I am 99% sure these "antistatic brushes" designed for PCB work are simply carbon bristle brushes the same type used to apply hair dye in salons. They come free with hair dying kits and can be bought for pennies at a hair supplies store.

Just need to get my arse moving and find a local hair supply store.

                                     Hi,

I'm trying to resurrect a LG OLED C1 TV that has some panel banding. I used the TCON error bypass to get a picture. I was able to update the firmware as well. But when I performed a pixel cleaning to try to get the banding out, it made the image significantly worse. I tried to undo the effects of the pixel cleaning by performing a factory reset and IN_Stop, but that didn't work. Any way to reset pixel cleaning data?...

Just did this on my 2021 13" MBP M1. Dust-Gate design flaw still present. Depending on cleanliness of the operation environment (often eating while using MB is probably the worst). Periodic cleaning is probably warranted.

Note this is quite challenging effort. One misstep will damage the LCD flex and render it useless. So take it to someone more experienced if uncertain.

could I please get some help cleaning the ME region of the attached Zbook 17 G1 bios dump (CH341a, neoprogrammer, chip-desoldered, dumped twice, identical checksum)?

Symptoms, delayed BIOS post (ca. 45 secs.) keyboard not working, touchpad not working, booting linux live, console says "Management engine not configured".
I tried following the ME firmware cleaning guide, but whatever Flash Image Tool version I try, I get the same error:

Hi. Not our mainstream line of work - we work with digital mostly. Will study the schematic found on the internet. The output darlington transistors appear to be ok. Even with no input, the output is extremely loud with static / crackle / pop. Any ideas? Will post more details and fix as we continue the review. Have not checked the main power supply rails yet (+-40V and +-16V).
