Hi, I need some help with my LG 47LV5500 TV, I'm getting power light on from red to white when power on but screen is black. Thanks

get a hairdryer out and heat the large heatsink on the mainboard for 1-2 minutes. if that helps, you have identified the problem.

Re: LG 47LV5500-UA - No Picture, No Sound, Has Backlight

I have an LG 47LV5500-UA with no picture, no sound. Backlight is working.

The three fuses on the the Power Supply Board all have 0.0 Ohms across them so are good.

No burned odor or damaged components are visible on either the Power Supply Board or the Main Board.

I have not removed the cover from or inspected the TCON board.

I found the LG 55LW5600 Training Manual on badcaps.net in this forum entry:

I used the LG 55LW5600 Training Manual to verify the following:

1. I used Test 1 on page 58 of the Training Manual to verify that 24V, 12V and 56V are present as described in the Test.

2. I used Test 2 on page 59 of the Training Manual to verify that backlight does turn on.

3. I was able to get 56V on caps C256 and C257 on the Power Supply Board as described on page 62 of the Training Manual. However I am not able to generate 63V at these same locations.

4. I am not able to use the Tip (second Tip in the bounding box at the top of the page) on page 63 of the Training Manual to force any of the LED blocks on one at a time by grounding EL test points one at a time through a 220 Ohm resistor. I tried this Tip both with and without the jumpers described in Test 1 (page 58) and Test 2 (page 59) installed.

The set does turn on and off (audible click) using the remote control.

Since I just joined this forum I am restricted from posting photos of the Power Supply Board and the Main Board. Once these restrictions are lifted I will post high-resolution photos.

So you have backlights but no plctures on the screen, then you need to find out if you have 12Vdc at both ends of the T-CON fuse with ref. to chassis Gnd.

Yes, 12 VDC present on both ends of the T-CON board fuse.
