Re: coby led4626
I tested one side of the fuse at a time, and used one of the grounds on the board. I did not put my meter to both sides of the fuse and test restance while there was power. I use caution when working with live equipment or recently used electronics. If i did something incorrect, please point it out.

Re: coby led4626
Did i do sometging wrong here? I thought you wanted me to test the tcon board for short, specifcally with the power on.

Re: coby led4626
The resistance is .1 ohms, when i test for a short with power off there is no short, when i test with power on it shows a short on both sides of the fuse. should i have everything hooked up when testing? The only thing not hooked up while testing is the panel, and the inverter board. I still havent identified the original burned part either.

I have one of these coming today with the same problem, gonna be trying this also.

Re: coby led4626
I do have 12v at both ends of l60 bud, and the tcon fuse is good, im not sure how to test a shorted panel capleaker? Ill post a pic of how the boards are layed out, i didn't have the tcon or led inverter board connected when i tested the main board....

coby led4626
I need help identifying a part for replacement, the mainboard i have has a burned component, unidentifiable markings incidentally, i have found a pretty clear image of the component but cannot find any information about it, can someone identify this part? Its in location qa6....

Thanks for the picture, i jave saved it for future reference, it cleared the fog a little for me.

Re: Element 32le30q
Ok, i will build this with and old bulb i have, the one question i have about it though, is on my setup, i have single wires for the lcds power, both are similar, when i attempt to power the circuit, should i use one wire to each side? Or do i need to build 2 test bulbs and hook them up independenly?

Re: Element 32le30q
Is there any way to tell if it might be the backlights and not actually the board? I hadn't considered the bulbs being bad, i assumed power board because of the blown capacitor.

Re: Element 32le30q
Thank you bud, i know this isn't a set that is really all that valuable, but i am trying to teach myself the basics of electronics, and this is helping me to understand/identify what each component is doing or supposed to be doing. Your knowledge has helped me a great lot the last few weeks. I have no teacher lol.

Re: Element 32le30q
How do i identify this transformer, if that's what it is, i tried looking this part # up online and, i can't find anything relevant....

Re: Element 32le30q
I have version 3.1, im also posting a closeup of the area where the original damage occured, notice the discolored connector, and the 2 newer blue ceramic capacitors. I did verify that the replacement was the exact same part before replacing, both were stamped 15j 6kv, if im correct that means 6000v 15 picofarads.

Re: Element 32le30q
I retested the supply, and this time tested the output of the backlights, with them hooked up, i get 18v dc until the backlights actually kick on, when yhe backlights kick on the voltage spikes to 33v, and immediately begins dropping back to 0v, whit the lamps disconected, i get 33v on both outputs, untill it shuts off. Im pulling the tranformer to test now.

Re: SHARP LCD TV LC-3244E-BK: No Backlight
You may be able to force the set to power on by unplugging the set from the wall, holding then input and vol - buttons and re plugging into the wall. This has helped me many times with diagnosing sharp tvs. If the set powers on, and the backlight still fails, then you have a backlight issue, either a circuit or bad lamp, if the set powers on and has a backlight but no image, then you have either a bad mainboard or a bad t-con, if the set powers on and appears to be fully funtional, then you may have the issue laikm is referencing, something...

Re: LED Backlight Love /Hate
I think they should design the leds to slide out of the side as an entire board, or individual small boards. And get rid of the power spike that causes most of the led failures, since leds do not require a spike in the power to ignite them.and then they might be on to something. But like reece said, plasmas require a special love for electronics.

Re: Element 32le30q
So should i pull and test the inverter next to it? Based on what you said we can assume the inverter transformer to be good correct? I removed the ballast capacitors in question and placed them into a functioning power supply, and they operated the other power supply, i did this thinking that maybe my dmm is just to low quality to test such a low capacitance, but they appear to be fine. I have also tested mosfets, but they tested fine. Thanks for the help bud.

Re: Unhappy VIZIO E500i-B1 Powers on then shuts off within a few seconds
You nailed it with the pics man, unfortunately we have completely different mainboards and power supply's, sorry im not able to help ya there man. But you have them labeled correctly. Maybe someone will be able to offer better insight as to why you have the issue with not being able to restart your set.
