    repprogram tv firmware

Question seen a older post about hot to reprogram tv firmware using a usb burner and a special clip. I messaged the guy with no response.

I bought that and should be here in 2 weeks. Now I need to know which burner I can use with it.

My ultimate goal is I usually buy broken tvs to sell parts on ebay. What I want to do is capture all good firmware from Vizio. And then I will release it on the net for those who need it.

I also want to use the firmware to try and fix a couple boards. From my understanding of the post, a lot of the Vizio firmware is the same through out the model tvs. So instead of buying a replacement chip, just burn new firmware on fixing any corruption. And then I should be good.

I would appreciate letting me know which burner you guys are using.

I see that one, but not sure if it would work or not. This is a new realm for me. Most I ever did is hot flash bios chips back in the day. But actually this would come in handy since a friend of mine bricked his board in a bios update. And this clip would work with that chip!

That should work. You just need to identify the type of chip and set it up accordingly as the pin outs are different between type 24 & 25.

The clip maybe turn out to be a bit crappy, that's what I found with mine. You can get a 3M or Pomona SOIC8 clip but the prices were not cheap.

I purchased something similar and the cabling broke, then the pins did not make good contact but managed to get it a few times. Alternative is to desolder and solder the IC to a test board.

I had some fun with it. I got it so I could convert Panasonic A boards more easily to a different model.

I also restored a 1 blink no starting Panasonic to working as it was corrupted firmware. I enjoyed that and also doing a comparison dump to known good firmware to find a single character changed.

Did you not post a second link to a CH341A eeprom programmer?

Mine was a green one. That's all I needed, plugged it into the laptop, loaded the drivers and software and that was it , read, write, erase, etc.
