  • Re: Samsung UN75RU8000FXZA bad main board?

"Fixed" it with the tape method. Covered about 5-6 lines on the jumper ribbon cable between the two panel driver boards on the left side of the TV when looking at it from the back. Still have some faint horizontal lines in pic that show up mostly in the reds but not really noticeable from 10 ft or more away.

  • IR night vision goggles to find shorted panel line?

Has anybody tried to use IR night vision goggles or other thermal imaging device to find a shorted line in a ribbon cable going from a panel driver board into the panel? I would think the shorted line would get hotter than the other lines and might just show up on a thermal imaging device. Just wondering if anyone has tried this and if so did it work?

  • Re: Samsung UN75RU8000FXZA bad main board?

I thought each side of the panel was isolated from the other side? For example a tab bonding problem on the left side would leave the right side pic looking normal. I didn't know both right and left sides could just go blank at the same time and it be the panel. The only times I've seen the whole screen go blank like this it was due to a bad tcon. But I'm still learning.....lol

  • Re: Samsung UN75RU8000FXZA bad main board?

Update: When I unplug either or both of the LVDS cables from the main board the set will respond to the remote and turn on, the BL stays on, and I hear sound when I hit buttons on the remote like the home button. There is no pic. I'm guessing the tcon section on the main board is bad. If the tcon were good I would think I could get a pic on half the screen when I was unplugging the LVDS cables one at a time. What do you think?

  • Samsung UN75RU8000FXZA bad main board?

When plugged in it will click and cycle the BL on and off, no pic and does not respond to remote. When I disconnect the cable from the PS board to the main board and then plug it in the BL will come on and stay on. There are only two boards in this set, the LVDS cables from the panel driver boards connect directly to the main board. Since the BL comes on and stays on I'm thinking the PS board is ok and the problem is on the main board. Should I order another main board or do I need to do more testing? thanks, Lee

  • Re: Amazon Fire TV Omni K24NE5 tcon or panel bad?

It's fixed!!! But it's pure dumb luck. I checked everything on the board with the meter in diode mode and could not find anything. I tried covering connector pins with a piece of thin plastic from a Walmart bag but never could get the TV to display a picture. I gave up on fixing it and out of curiosity decided to find where the short was by cutting the ribbon cables to the panel. I started by cutting about half an inch into the outermost cable. I plugged in the TV, pressed the on button and the TV came right up with a full screen...

I checked the driver board for shorted caps and couldn't find any. Is it possible that the panel itself has a short?

  • Re: Amazon Fire TV Omni K24NE5 tcon or panel bad?

Update: I noticed that the right and left driver boards are split in two and have a ribbon cable connecting them. So I unplugged the ribbon cable connecting the two driver boards on the bad side and now I have 3/4 of a picture. I think this eliminates the tcon board as the problem. I'm going to check for a shorted cap on the disconnected bad half of the driver board.

  • Re: General question about LVDS voltages. Blank Backlit Screen.

back to your original problem, blank backlit screen. I had the same problem. I unplugged one of the ribbon cables going from the tcon to the panel driver boards. Turned on the set and got half of the screen looking perfect. Try unplugging one cable and if that doesn't work plug it back in and try unplugging the other one. If u get half a pic that eliminates the main board. I think my problem is a short on the driver board causing the blank screen. Next I'll try checking the surface mount caps on the driver board for...

  • Re: Amazon Fire TV Omni K24NE5 tcon or panel bad?

With both ribbon cables connected it turns on but it's just a blank black screen with the BL's on. With only the "bad" cable connected it does the same, blank black screen with BL's on. With the bad cable disconnected and the good cable connected I get half screen video with the other side of screen black. Sound and remote functions are normal.

  • Amazon Fire TV Omni K24NE5 tcon or panel bad?

TV came on with BL on but blank screen. Disconnected one of the ribbon cables from tcon to panel driver board and now I have half of the screen working normally. Any way to tell if the problem is with the tcon or the panel driver board or the panel itself? Should I just replace the tcon and see what happens?

  • Re: Vizio E55-DO firmware corrupted?

Got the remote in and it will turn the set on and off but that is it. It looks as if it is not booting up because sometimes when u turn it on it will only show the software version on a black screen. Other times it will show google pics and the correct time. It will change from pic to pic and the whole screen looks great. But that is all it will do. It won't let u select an input. When u hit other buttons like volume up down, channel up down etc. nothing appears on the screen and the set doesn't respond.

  • Re: Vizio E55-DO firmware corrupted?

Tried it and also tried the other reset where u hold the volume and input buttons down. I think it did reset to the original firmware. I tried to update the firmware with a thumb drive but it not starting the process, it just sits there. I ordered the remote and it should be here by Fri.

  • Re: Vizio E55-DO firmware corrupted?

Tried disconnecting the network cable and pressing the input button but it does nothing. When I disconnected the cable the screen went blank and when I reconnected it the google pics came back on. It seems it's stuck in whatever mode displays the google pics. lol I'll order the oem remote tomorrow.

  • Re: Vizio E55-DO firmware corrupted?

I downloaded the firmware, extracted and copied it onto a blank thumb drive. With the set on I plugged the drive into the usb port and nothing happened. I connected an ethernet cable to the set just to see what would happen and now I've got Google pics changing every few min and the correct time displayed. The firmware instructions say to put the set on an input with no signal and I think that may be why it's not updating. When I press the input button on the rear panel nothing happens and I don't have a remote. I also downloaded the smartcast...

  • Vizio E55-DO firmware corrupted?

I was given this set and do not have the original remote. It will turn on with the power button and display "oobe V1.1.12 firmware V0" but that's all it will do. It does not respond to the input select button or volume button. I have a remote from the cable company and programmed it for Vizio and it will turn the set on and off but that's it, no response from any other buttons. The white standby led comes on bright at first and then dims but stays on while the set is on. I pulled the back off and looked for anything obvious like loose connectors, bad solder, bad caps and didn't find...

  • Re: Vizio V755-J04 no backlight

Tcptech can u disconnect the BL's from the driver board and then plug in the TV, and check for voltage between the BL + pins and ground. Mine is showing zero volts and I'm interested in knowing if urs is also zero.
