UN55B6000VF white screen with disconnected T-Con

I am looking at UN55B6000VF that has mostly white screen where 2/5 of it is slightly darker. When I play something on the TV, the 2/5 that is slightly darker has shadow of an image on it that is playing while rest is pure white.

See attached pictures (the horizontal lines are there only on camera). When I disconnect all T-Con ribbon cables, the screen is fully white no shadows.

If the entire screen would have shadow of the image playing, this could be gamma issue related to T-Con. (there is no AS15/19 I as far as I can see), however since only 2/5 of the screen is visible, I am worried this is more of an panel issue.

    Thoughts?

Disconnect only one side of the T-con, look at the screen, then the other side of the T-con.

When I disconnect right ribbon cable only I get mostly white screen with some shadow portions and few white horizontal lines. When I disconnect left ribbon cable only I get pure white screen.

However, now when I disconnect both cables I get dark screen (as I would expect) with back-lights only.

Anyone has any ideas on this? Should just get another T-con and see what happens?

Check voltages test points on the t-con.

those lower lines when the side is disconnected is likely not good. As you have seen, when a "good disconnect" happens, the screen goes white on the disconnect side.

I would check / reseat cabling in and around the panel edges where possible and see if things change.... but would suppect a panel issue on the side when disconnected shows horizontal lines.

Sorry, for delayed response. I had to go out of town for few days.

When I can back to this TV I have noticed that there is awful lot of water residue on the screen itself, from wet rags. If previous owners used this "cleaning" method since day one, yep you guessed it, corroded contacts on driver boards. See attached pictures. I so wanted this to be a T-Con board fault and, but logically I knew it was most likely panel. Oh well.

                Thanks for your help guys.

Clean the area well with ipa and reflow smd parts. This is the reason why I NEVER buy Led Tvs with Lcd faults only backlight or power/firmware failures.

I am working on cleaning the contacts, but no luck so far. I have even found compatible replacement ribbon cable. There is corrosion inside of the latches that connect the ribbon cables that I can't get out. Even if I do, I am not sure how will I address the corrosion on the tab bonds.

As to the reflow, how would one go about doing that on driver board, without damaging the this tab bonds and their ribbon cables or panel? Should I just manually re solder every contact on SMDs?

Most probably you will need to replace some of the SMD caps as from photos I can see that they are damaged by corrosion. Ribbon cable that connects board to screen will have to be cut slightly (just not too much) approximately 1 mm. All traces have to be connected back together where corroded. Tiny wire can help connecting them. SMD components that are not damaged should be reflown I do this this with solder iron and a lot of flux. It is job that requires precision and skills, possible to repair. Had tree TVs like that 2 managed to repair. Coca cola is worst thing One of the TVs had something like coca cola spilled on screen. Everything sticky too many contacts burnt.

                        Hello everyone,

I've recently been given a Sony 8k Z8H. It's got a white screen with two vertical black bars. At times it's given me the 5 blink Tcon code. Testing voltage on the Tcon I can see some low or missing voltage. I've done a basic visual check of cables and the COF. Not seeing anything obvious. The original Tcon seemed to have good caps until turning it over. On the bottom I found maybe 10 caps with both sides of the caps shorting to ground. I thought ok these caps and likely other components on the Tcon are shorted so let's try a replacement Tcon. I just received the...

To ask here... I have few devices with white screen problem, actualy nokia 2220 and some fuji? camera, and try to understand what is common problem to cause that issue.
Yes, both devices work everything else probably ok, I mean, I hear intro melody and keypress click sound, DTMF tone, power on off... all ok.
On desk is nokia 2220 slide, and I check all screen connectors and components arround it, measure voltage drop, but all looks ok. I suspect on slide flex cable, but it look ok and white screen is not interupt while flexing board, pushing conectors, and sliding up down. In attachment...

Just bought this for 10 bucks yesterday hoping to fix it. The guy said water dropped inside from a dehumidifier hose and it started showing black and white vertical bars then went blank. When I got it home and turned it on it came on fine and displayed correctly but I was noticing faint vertical bars in the image. After a little bit I turned it off and back on and it was a black screen again. I opened it up to check for water damage and corrosion but didn't find anything of the sort. I cleaned the ribbons anyway and reconnected them but still got a blank screen. If I disconnect the right side...

My Oled Tv is 55inch tv, 3 days ago I notice that middle of the screen is getting warmer and on picture I have ghosting, missing red color. Color red was still displaying, but it was not so strong as corners of the screen and watching some movies makes me angry.
Then I get an idea to take it apart and clean boards from dust.
In side of Tv was not so bad, I take compressed air in can, and gently blow up.

Also I was thinking to styrofoam sponge to isolate power board from screen that the middle of the screen will not worm so much. Because Led on screen when gets higher...

Lg TCon test pins for screen test
                        by alltvrepairs
                        Hi,
i have a 65 Panasonic TX-65HX710E using vestel 17MB170 main and Lg tcon.

Few drops of water fell probably near COF and have no display. Tried removing tabs but no.part of display present as if tcon fuse open. However 12v is present and tcon can be felt warm enough that supplies are present. Backlight and sound ok.

Anyone knows if this TCon 6870c-0805A has any special test pins for rgb test?

                        Appreciate your help....
