LG32LB561V Black Screen with sound

Hi,
My mate has asked me to look at this for him as he has some daft notion that I actually know what I'm doing. So to help me impress him I thought I'd turn to you guys

So the problem is the display is completely black, but the TV is switching channels as you can hear the audio of the different programs.

Below are pictures of the 2 PCBs inside the set, the T-Con board is covered by a plate, which it seems to be attached to somehow.

Any help appreciated.

Please show the pictures of the whole backside of the TV so we see all the boards including the T-CON board.

New set of pictures of PCBs, I can't work out how to get the metal bracket seperated from the T-Con board. Do they solder them to the PCB, there appears to be 2 contact points connecting the metal shield to the PCB.
A little more info that might help. When the set is powered up, the red standby button comes on, when a channel is selected this slowly flashes red and then goes off. This is with no input connected though as I can't hook it up to anything at the moment.

Ok if you shine a torch on the screen can you see an image faintly ?

Ok if you shine a torch on the screen can you see an image faintly ?

Just hooked t up to the Sky box and could just make out the Pause symbol in the bottom left corner, couldn't really see much else.

Dont do that yet we need to know if the Lcd is working but not backlit. If it is the Tcon does not need to be touched.

Ok well the Tcon and Lcd is fine. Your backlight is not working here. I will link my video on how to test it and another for Lg Led Tv's you probably have a failed Led in the screen.

Thanks for that, just on a side note, is this an expensive/tricky fix. As it isn't my set is the cost of repair worth the hassle ?

Also not too easy and you have to be VERY careful with the Lcd screen. You need to learn how to test the driver first watch norcals video on how to do that. The drive voltage for this set is roughly 80v start up then 70v running if it starts high then goes low you have a failed led.

If that's the case I think I'll pass it back to the owner, as this was only supposed to be a quick look as a favour and see if there is anything easy to fix. I'd rather not cause more damage to the set.
