Hey guys! So yesterday my telly decided to pack it in. No signs of anything going wrong before hand. On startup it will play the startup sound and show the startup screen for a split second then fades to black. The image is then visible using the flashlight technique, so, definitely backlight I'm assuming? All caps etc. look to be in good enough condition and no discolouration anywhere. I've included a couple pics of the board arrangement etc. nt sure how much help they will be though. Please help, I'm gunna lose my mind without having a telly to come home to! TIA.

Re: Soniq E40W13A-AU Backlight Problem. Help a noob out
Haha sounds fun. Am I wrong in thinking that because the backlight still functions, albeit for less than a second, that it isn't a failure of the LED's themselves? Is there a way I could mabye run a jumper wire and see if the LED circuit is still intact and potentially functional?Comment

Re: Soniq E40W13A-AU Backlight Problem. Help a noob out
Okay, so I measured 12v at the led pins when turned on, until the backlight flashes for that one second and it drops down to 0. Unplugged the led's and got the same result. Measured voltages a cable running from psu to main board. All seem to be okay barre one odd one out which was 4v (everything else was 5v or 12v)Comment

Re: Soniq E40W13A-AU Backlight Problem. Help a noob out
Your pictures are very fuzzy and hard to identify parts. 12V sounds far to low for an led supply which is often >100V mark. Is the LED voltage written on the power supply board?Willing to help but I'm no expert.Comment

Re: Soniq E40W13A-AU Backlight Problem. Help a noob out
Think theres a repair kit for the Psu for this for the Led drive area. Disconnect the Leds and retest the voltage.Last edited by ReeceyBurger123; 05-15-2016, 11:20 AM.Please Do Not PM My Page Asking For Help Badcaps Is The Place For Advise, Page Linked For Business Reasons Only. Re: Soniq E40W13A-AU Backlight Problem. Help a noob out
I'll definitely take some hq shots tomorrow as to give you a better idea of the components. I did measure the voltage with the led's disconnected and it remained at 12v, well at least what I think is the led power wiring ( 2 pairs of wires running through the chassis, didn't light up on startup when unplugged).
Also no, it doesn't appear to have marked voltages for the leds on the board, unless they're on the underside?Last edited by Kooda; 05-15-2016, 11:35 AM.Comment

Just measure the DCV right between the two legs of the cap, that is a sure way to find out if you still have lethal Voltage on the cap or not.Never stop learning

Re: Soniq E40W13A-AU Backlight Problem. Help a noob out
Okay, got some high res pics of the boards if anyone wants to see if anything stands out. Also, I'm assuming the led driver is built in to the power board, and the t-con board is the long board down the bottom? Would a faulty t-con cause backlight problems?Comment

Re: Soniq E40W13A-AU Backlight Problem. Help a noob out
Okay so a tiny bit more progress so far. I've taken then panel apart to inspect the led's. Seems I was mistaken and only the bottom half of the backlight (two lengths/four individual strips) are lighting up momentarily on startup. Also, not sure if this means anything but, if i short the led terminals of each strip, it will light up different strips and different configurations. They are all able to be lit up besides one segment. Is it safe to say this is the culprit? Got a lil video if my explanation is a bit hard to understand. TIAComment

Re: Soniq E40W13A-AU Backlight Problem. Help a noob out
It is done! So god damn happy. After following your tut,I managed to track down the faulty led and fix it, although I simply had to bridge it with solder as I have no spare led's and such, but there is no loss of brightness at all and it's operating perfectly! Happy daysComment

by triplefourthis tv is throwing me for a loop. do samsung tvs no longer have the backlight self test feature built into the power supply?
i tested the backlight with my LED tester and it lights up both strips. one of them reads 100v and the other reads 63.7v.
unplugged mainboard from power supply but left backlight plugged in, and then plugged psu wall power in. expected to see backlights light up but see nothing.
according to how ive diagnosed in the past, this would almost always be a bad power supply. replacement power supply was cheap like 20$ from ebay. but still i get not even... -
by DanPokaI bought this p2210f dell monitor to fix. Schematic is the same as p2210.
Behaviour is that monitors comes on but then backlight switches off almost instantly. If I look with flashlight I can still find the "No signal message". So definitely a backlight issue. Trying to advance the issue I proved that the protection circuit is switching off the backlight by shorting out C3 and resistor to disable the INL chip then re enable by removing the short.
This is where it gets interesting. When I disassembled the monitor to solder leads on c3 capacitor I noticed the backlight flickered...-

by Comp_ProHello all,
Am trying to figure out this backlight issue with this A1990 Macbook Pro.
Tests performed:
There is no backlight even with a good screen.
Backlight IC is receiving the correct support voltages.
Fuse F8400 ok
Current sense resistor R8400 ok
Backlight IC is receiving 3.3V on enable pin.
Backlight IC receiving voltage from PPBUS_G3H, aprox 12.5V.
Backlight IC receiving 5V from PP5V_G3S
Backlight IC BKLT_SCL and BKLT_SDA both measure 0.545V diode mode to ground
I2C_BKLT_SCL and I2C_BKLT_SDA both measure... -
by cheebsterHello, got an iPad Pro A2378 12.9 5th gen with no backlight. Got another test unit without screen, tested the screen, still no backlight with the test unit.
Figured out the backlight on the screen was bad, ordred a new backlight from mobilesentrix, *carefully replaced it* without damaging the lcd, oh well.
Final result, issue is still there, the screen has no back lights. So i'm back to square one, with 3 hours less and 100$ out, issue still on the screen.
The panel is still ok, i can see the apple in the middle of the screen when it kicks in, just no backlight.

by canadaboy25Hi all,
I've got an LG Flatron 24EN33TA with a backlight issue. The problem began with the monitor not powering up after sitting for a long time (overnight or during the day throughout work). When I would wake the computer up, the backlight would flick on for a second then go out. Sometimes it would take many tries to get it to come on. Once the monitor came on, it worked flawlessly until another long duration of being powered off.
I thought the problem would be bad caps but I checked both of the caps on the board and they are fine. I also tried powering the monitor from...-
