voltages for the test points on the inverter board
As for the fuses, I wasn't able to find 6 of them on each board (only 4 if I remember correctly), but all the ones that were there tested good.Comment

Re: No backlight on Toshiba 42HL67US LCD
Those 4 pads are the signal receiving pins, they should be BL-ON, DIM, and may be Error pin.
You only found 4 fuses, what are the designators? F1, F2, F3, F4?Last edited by budm; 06-06-2016, 08:45 AM.Never stop learning

found the culprit!
Actually, after going back and taking a closer look, I was able to find all six on both boards. Lo and behold, the last one I tested (F1 on the master board) is indeed wide open.Comment

Re: No backlight on Toshiba 42HL67US LCD
That fuse F1 with the 'D' marking on the top is the fuse for running the PWM Controller IC.
You can try 0.50A fuse with leads in its place for testing, you do not have to remove the old one, just solder the wire to each end.
'D' it is supposed to be 0.315A fuse.

fuze!
The 24v audio is a D2396 AT Q860
The 5v2 is a Sharp 70XP01 at QE52
The 3.3vd has two ICs by it - a B001FFE at QE73 and an FMBG14 at DE70.

Re: No backlight on Toshiba 42HL67US LCD
You can use any 1/2A fuse for now for testing, more likely just bad fuse like other failed DARFON inverter board.
You can also check the resistance on the output side of the fuse to see if it shows very low resistance with ref to GND.Never stop learning

diagnosis is looking good!
I don't have any half-amp fuzes hanging around, but upon testing resistance to ground using the multimeter, I did have to set it up to a fairly high setting to get it to show anything at all, so it sounds like we're looking at just a bad fuse then. When purchasing one, do I need to find the exact value or should a half-amp surface mounter work fine?Comment

I believe that both Digi-Key and Mouser sell suitable fuses.Willing to help but I'm no expert.Comment

1/2A will work find, just have to take the Length and width measurement to get the correct size.Never stop learning

fuze size
I measured the fuse and it appears to be somewhere between 1/8 and 1/6 of an inch long. According to the PDF that was provided, the case size rating of the fuze is 0402, but when looking up those types of fuzes on Mouser, their 0402 fuze is only 1.05mm (.04 inch), which sounds much too small. Is it possible that I measured it wrong? If not, how do I find the correct size rating?Comment

Are you using digital caliber to measure the part?

Fixed!
This was indeed the problem. Inverter boards are so inexpensive that I just opted to get a used one and will either sell the broken board or fix it and then sell it.
For now, the replacement inverter solved the problem and the Toshiba Regza lives on.Comment

by triplefourthis tv is throwing me for a loop. do samsung tvs no longer have the backlight self test feature built into the power supply?
i tested the backlight with my LED tester and it lights up both strips. one of them reads 100v and the other reads 63.7v.
unplugged mainboard from power supply but left backlight plugged in, and then plugged psu wall power in. expected to see backlights light up but see nothing.
according to how ive diagnosed in the past, this would almost always be a bad power supply. replacement power supply was cheap like 20$ from ebay. but still i get not even... -

by DanPokaI bought this p2210f dell monitor to fix. Schematic is the same as p2210.
Behaviour is that monitors comes on but then backlight switches off almost instantly. If I look with flashlight I can still find the "No signal message". So definitely a backlight issue. Trying to advance the issue I proved that the protection circuit is switching off the backlight by shorting out C3 and resistor to disable the INL chip then re enable by removing the short.
This is where it gets interesting. When I disassembled the monitor to solder leads on c3 capacitor I noticed the backlight flickered...-

by Comp_ProHello all,
Am trying to figure out this backlight issue with this A1990 Macbook Pro.
Tests performed:
There is no backlight even with a good screen.
Backlight IC is receiving the correct support voltages.
Fuse F8400 ok
Current sense resistor R8400 ok
Backlight IC is receiving 3.3V on enable pin.
Backlight IC receiving voltage from PPBUS_G3H, aprox 12.5V.
Backlight IC receiving 5V from PP5V_G3S
Backlight IC BKLT_SCL and BKLT_SDA both measure 0.545V diode mode to ground

by willis6732Hello,
This TV came in for a backlight Repair. I bypassed the Burnt LED as shown in Picture. I thought it was fixed and returned to customer. So I dont have the TV anymore, but customer says its not really watchable.
Now the TV Is much dimmer than before. It does a quick bright flash when it first turns on.
The Driver board looked pretty toasty in the LED Driver Area.
So I am wondering.. how can i Tell if this is a LED or Driver Board Issue?... - Loading...
